Part of a balcony in the Apollo theatre in central London has collapsed during a performance.
The theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue was packed for a performance of the Curious Incident Of The Dog in the Night-time.
As eyewitness said she heard "a crackling" noise before the collapse at about 20:15 GMT.
More soon.
How big is said balcony?
Thought the whole theater collapsed in on its self for a sec
Oh damn, is this going to affect Live at The Apollo?

Too late, an indefinite number of casualties reported in the CNN page.

Casualties don't necessarily mean deaths right?
it means killed or injured, how serious it needs to be for it to be considered 'injured' I don't know.

I'd imagine (hope) that nobody was killed, though all that dust certainly wont do anyone in the theater much good down the line.
London fire spokesman saying all have been freed that were trapped
Approximately 65 casualties with 5 confirmed serious.

One of the biggest theaters in London if I'm not mistaken.
Houston we have a problem.
81 injured, no fatalities reported
Wonder what the Greeks did to piss off Apollo this time.

On a more serious note, that's really nice to hear. Hopefully it'll stay this way.
Does anyone know what happened to make it collapse?
My cousins from Britain are staying with me in Australia for a while. Hope all goes well, I really don't want to have them waking up to this.
