• Help me download and burn a windows recovery CD from Knoppix

I made a thread originally in tech support but as I asked around on other forums, the problem has evolved and is now more suited to be asked here, as I need direct help from a linux user. Let me just state this loud and clear. I have next to zero experience in linux, I am a complete noob. Though not a complete idiot in general. Please treat me accordingly when explaining things. Some backstory (I'll try to keep it brief) I installed Wubi as a curiosity experiment. Ubuntu wouldn't accept my ethernet connection, I deemed it a failure and uninstalled Wubi from windows. I neglect to reboot immediatley (perhaps I should have), forget it and only do reboot about a week later when I go out of town for a day. I'm greeted with a BIOS screen. After some testing I conclude that Wubi broke my bootloader. I have no windows CD (lost it), but I found a year old knoppix live CD which I made for some reason. Currently writing this from said knoppix live CD. Original idea was to install GRUB untill I was informed it chain loads. Was given torrent links to Win7 recovery CD's from another forum and told to do bootrec /fixmbr and bootrec /fixboot. Thing is, I have absolutley no idea how to download the torrent or how to burn it to a CD as I said I am a complete idiot to linux. Please help me here. As I don't have much else to do I'll be hovering over this thread like a hawk, expect quick responses. Thanks in advance.
2 hours and no answers, some help facepunch was. Problem solved. After a reboot knoppix wouldn't run on boot anymore, after an hour of dicking around with boot settings in BIOS trying to invoke the miracle that allowed me to make this thread, I spotted when booting the tiniest of messages flying past at the rapidly scrolling POST screen. "Press F8 to enter boot selection menu" Intrigued at a possible solution to end the frustration, I mash my fist in the general area of the F8 key, somehow hitting it before other keys. After more text swishes by at speeds far too fast to read, a popup appears. In it I see my DVD drive and my primary hard drive as boot options. Thinking "f8 worked now so it should work again", I try selecting my hard drive. The glee and excitement when I see "windows starting" followed by the beautiful windows 7 logo flying in to view is almost impossible to describe, but I can assure any readers that emissions of a sexual nature where very close to occurring. I am currently torrenting a recovery CD image with utorrent with nero in the background while spinning an empty DVD on my fingers.
So as soon things got hot you bailed out? You do not need Windows you need a Mac.
How about no. The guy is obviously trying out linux and that's how everyone starts with anything. Wubi was obviously not the best choice. People learn from their mistakes and that's what the guy did. @OP If you really want to try linux (Ubuntu) you shouldn't really go with Wubi. It is easier to install and to remove it, but it gives an unreliable system that's alway giving trouble. You should boot from the CD and install it properly. It will be more reliable and generally less of a pain in the ass. If you do install it the proper way, you'll have to resize the windows partition. Removing Linux (who would want to do that?) might be a bigger issue. You'll have to format the partition and Reinstall the Windows bootloader (the thing you're currently doing).
