At the very least, they're consumable items, so multiplayer will only be balanced in favor of people who preordered for the first week or so. Still kind of shitty, but could be worse.
120 € for the collectors edition? Videogame pricing is fucking stupid
you're getting what looks like a pretty decent figure. seems fairly priced considering what you are getting.

That makes it 60 euros for that figurine, which is actually quite cheap.

Seems cheap compared to most CEs that have statues in.
Was on the edge if I wanted to get this or not but now I'm so far over the edge that I can't even see it
Luckily I'm a single player person, so I don't really care. Sucks, though.

You can get about 4 amiibo's for the price of it! What a rip off!!
ouch. i'm still optimistic about the game but i hope this won't fuck things up too hard.
i already had my doubts about the multiplayer, but this gives me that edge to doubt it even more
fucking ew
They're like Titanfall's Burn Cards. One-time use bonuses you can set in while waiting to respawn.
I'll probably avoid the main multiplayer unless there's some sort of classic set-up, because the normal MP stuff we've seen seems like bland crap.
I'd gladly pay for the collector's edition. It's the value of the base game I worry about. It could be a 10/10, but I wouldn't rule out a new Duke Nukem Forever.
Every article for this game just makes it look worse and worse lol
Does this mean such items will be obtainable in game in some way or have they basically "leaked" that there will be microtransactions? I haven't really been following this, so I have no clue if it was ever hinted that microtransactions would be a thing.
More misleading headlines from pcgamesn? Wow who saw that coming

What's misleading about it?
More misleading headlines from pcgamesn? Wow who saw that coming
What Swiket said, how is it misleading?
"pre-orders get consumables that "give you an edge in multiplayer"" except not really since everyone else gets the same by playing the game, and you're basically getting a starter pack
The assumption you get from the headline is only pre-orders get these, until you actually read the article and realize the emphasis on the consumables in the title is completely unwarranted
Just look at the replies in this thread you can already spot those who didn't actually read past the headline. Not wrong, but misleading
Though admittedly they're direct quoting, but that just goes back to the fact pcgamesn nowadays are a blog instead of a news outlet

Clearly I've misunderstood something. A news outlet wouldn't directly quote from an official source in a headline?
The headline was phrased in the way it was because it was relevant information, and it is presented in exactly the way Bethesda have presented it on the pre-order page and in their press release. They are making it seem like it's a pre-order bonus not acquirable elsewhere, since I had to go to another outlet to find that information, rather than anything officially produced by Bethesda.
There's no actual confirmation anywhere that they won't be purchasable in-game as microtransactions, or that they will be similar to Burn Cards in terms of their effect on the game. Those are (clearly marked) assumptions being made by me based on what the GameInformer guys said and some general common sense that id/Bethesda won't want to ruin the game like that.
Given the discussion around it, I don't think it was unwarranted to point it out. The intention is that someone will see it and want to read on for further information, from which they can draw their own conclusions - same as the part of the headline that says there's a campaign trailer. I think I would prefer if there was a bit more room to make it clear there's more to the story, but that headline is already 3-4 words too heavy.

That's fair. I still don't agree with the wording, but I can understand the intent and admittedly Bethesda's phrasing was awful as well
More broadly speaking, I've seen articles that were basically "the developer press release said this", and while I suppose it's to be expected in the internet age, I kinda wish my job was that easy, too
Thing is I used to enjoy PCGamesN and seeing how... let's say hit and miss it's been lately just kind of makes me assume the worst everytime I open up an article. But I appreciate you calling me out, regardless
