GameKeysNow.com, which appears to be affiliated with PlayStation Plus informant GamePointsNow, states that it has heard from its "official UK distribution that Dark Souls 2 has been delayed by a week until May 2nd 2014". The site adds that "no reason has been given for the delay as yet".
Amazon UK's pre-order customers have also reportedly been told of the game's delay, receiving emails notifying them of the new May 2 date. The date has also been amended to May 2 by ShopTo.
Bandai Namco has yet to announce a delay for the PC launch, with the game still officially on track for release next Friday, April 25.
My amazon order was indeed updated this morning to May 2nd, still no official news yet and the bandai uk twitter is looking into this.
Hopefully not for the digital release.

This, I hope to christ it's not for digital. Was bad enough dodging spoilers for an entire month, an extra week is torture.
Are you fucking kidding me? Not only do you make PC users wait over a month extra for the game but then make the UK wait an extra week on top of that? Fuck you too Bamco.

If the worst came to the worst, would you seriously not be able to handle waiting just another week?

I can understand why he's pissed off since the developers have apparently been taking PC into consideration from the beginning, so the only reason they could need an extra month for is just to get more console sales from people who can't wait.

That's not the point. Of course he could handle it. Waiting a week wouldn't kill him. Though there's no reason why waiting a week more is acceptable.

this is why the op should just paste the actual articles headline as the thread title and not make one up

First off, the extra month was due to the fact that they were polishing the PC port. You wouldn't want another half-assed and rushed port like the first Dark Souls, right? Not to mention that this most likely only affects physical copies' distribution. I'm fairly certain that Steam will be fine.

would you rather they send it out and royally fuck it up potentially with a game breaking bug or other issues, or send it out working properly?
Of course, I do get pissed with bad ports, and I should. Because they rush it half assed and I paid real money for the product. But a small delay is no big deal for proper polishing.
Game.co.uk + Steam still have it listed for 25th April.
I can't imagine buying the same game twice for different platforms.

I contacted GAME support, all physical copies are still going out May 2nd, the store pages just haven't updated.

Ugh, that sucks. Thanks for letting me know though.
I have uni exams until like the 25th May, so I'll probably just have to hold off till then to really start playing it.

[editline]15th April 2014[/editline]
I remember the same sort of thing happened with Left 4 Dead 2
Thank fuck for that. God damn it OP you nearly turned me hollow!
I'm still going to buy the PC version even though I got the console version
I'm gonna give it another go even though I was really disappointed
Well if it's just the digital version I don't think people will give a shit

It's awkward for anybody who ordered a Black Armour or Collector's edition since it comes with a Steam code anyway but it'll take longer to arrive than a regular Steam copy.
I for one have pre-ordered a BA edition for £30 which will give me a digital copy to actually play. It would cost me £40 to get a purely digital copy to play at the same time as everybody else. I'm still pondering how to approach the situation myself, I have a few options to weigh up.

Well, considering that you already bought it, pirating it wouldn't hurt anyone, right?

Not it wasn't. Seriously, do we have to go over this every time it gets brought up?
"The first Dark Souls was adapted from consoles to PC – this time, it's the opposite. The PC version serves as the base."
From built Dark Souls 2 for the PC this time around, as it was the lead platform. This led to problems when they went to port it to consoles because, surprise, tech that's 8 years out of date can't run a game built for modern PC specs. To fix this, they started cutting bits out until it ran, and that's the version everyone is now stuck with.
The delay for the PC release was nothing more then a ploy by Bamco to ensure more sales for consoles, and make an extra buck on the people who would buy it twice. There was no tweaking, when a game gets released, that's it, it's done.
I would say I am annoyed but that pushes it past my final exams so that could well have saved me not working as hard for my finals.

I dunno man, the first couple days were pretty bad. It was almost unplayable for me. Since when was it regarded as not shit when it was ported over?

It appears you misread his post.
Fuck, I ordered my copy from the UK to get it cheaper (Almost half price), now I have to wait a week, and then wait even longer for it to get to NZ.

the "want a more polished game" excuse is the worst excuse for a delay

no it really isn't
