Remind me how the fuck did korea take over USA in the first game? Like its beyond fantasy of any kind.
It was originally supposed to be the Chinese if I remember but they got butthurt about it so then the story changed to North Korea annexing South Korea, Japan, and eventually more parts of Asia. Becoming the "Greater Korea Republic" or GRK. Eventually the GRK decided to do a surprise attack on the US using some kind of EMP device that crippled the country allowing them to gain a foothold on the west coast.
Cool movie, I thought it was supposed to be a game trailer though.
iirc the gameplay footage from forever ago did look promising
Despite all the hate that the first game got, I enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to another one.

In the Homefront universe Kim Jong Un wasn't fat and useless but united Korea, gained power and then I think hit the US with an EMP.

This is how its actually written in the design document

Still sounds more of a fantasy than lord of the rings still.
The gameplay they showed looked interesting though obviously staged.
Open world guerrilla warfare.
Sadly this currently fits the archetype of the game that looks promising, then disappears off the map for a while and ends up cancelled or released in a heavily altered and mediocre form.
EXTREMELY uninteresting

Gameplay was shown directly after this, no idea why the article decided to leave that part out.
Open world gameplay where you're playing as a guerrila in modern times is something I've wanted for a long time.
I loved the gameplay trailer but the whole futuristic sorta stance they're going with the Korean uniforms and weapons bothers me

I wish there were more games that pulled off this theme in a more capable way. Far Cry 3 felt pretty lame. The only ones I truly remember is Red Faction guerilla which is a lot of fun but pretty arcadey and also Mercenaries 2 which is a pretty mediocre game.
In the Homefront universe the US is financially ruined, and extremely weak prior to the Korean invasion afaik.
looks cool, hopefully it's not shit again
It's going to be Far Cry 3/4 with the serial numbers filed off. I saw the gameplay trailers, both the one this year and the one from last year. They made a bit of noise about how "It's not about taking the fight to them head-on, it's about using your skill and cunning to hit the enemy where they least expect [sp]:^)[/sp]", but the player character had regenerating health and was popping headshots with ease.
A real guerrilla warfare game should be less of a shooter and more of an rpg/management sim.
