will be similar style to the telltale games if I had to guess...
Who left the fucking cup of coffee on the paper...
I was surprised such a thing didn't happen sooner. And it's probably gonna reel in a ton of kids.

It's ~artistic~, you wouldn't understand.

I'd hope not. The faces look absolutely hideous in those.

I mean, a tasteful, high quality minecraft movie could possibly be made but it would seem more likely to be a mediocre cash out designed to fuel kids' merch sales.
Some fan vids around captured a really cool aspect of minecraft at the time which was the large expanses of stuff to explore, and the generally cool ambiance.

That being said this is extremely likely to be a stereotypical "kid movie"
So I ask: Why

Milk the near-dead cow for all you can for that sweet sweet cash

I'm not so sure. I can't imagine the game being as popular as it used to be after three more years.
Wouldn't 2019 be Minecraft's 10th anniversary as well? Fuck, I'm old.

Looks intentional

I just want to know how the world they got Rob McElhenney on as director.
Well according to rotten tomatoes Warcraft got panned by critics but the audience liked it, who knows maybe they can make a good minecraft movie by staying the fuck away from story mode and make it more like a one man survival just like how it was intended to in the first place.

$$$$$$$
Angry Birds movie surprised us all. I doubt this will be any good but I'll wait and see.
The fact the Rob McElhenney(Mac from It's Always Sunny) is directing it is interesting. I just don't see him as the most kid-friendly director they could have gotten.

In three more years all the kids that played Minecraft in early days will be old enough to feel nostalgic and will want to relive their childhood through the movie. Plus by then they will enter the workforce and have disposable income, the movie will make billions :v:
will rat boy genius make an appearance?
I never asked for this.

They offered to help him cultivate mass.
ten fucking years
and still no major updates, and they're gonna release a movie

they ported it to multiple platforms, have a c++ windows version in development, and have still been upddating the java version, I believe the latest revamped the attack system or something.

but still only like 3 weapons, extremely dull fighting system, and just basic things that would keep one occupied
just look at terraria and how much content they've added

Okay, now I have some faith in this.
You know how they made the Lego movie and it wasn't awful? If they could do the same thing with Minecraft they'd be golden. Seems a tall order, though.
One sort of advantage is that they have a very clear mind with the story. MC has no vast lore that the movie producers need to stick with and they have a freeform in what to do. Same with the LEGO movie
How long is this game going to be popular? It was already ridiculously popular in 2010 and tons of kids are still playing it today.
In before this somehow turns out to be the best film of our generation
jks I expect the quality of those 'fan' animations on youtube that add a uncanny valley level of detail to the characters
