Clear sound in left channel, no sound or distorted sound in right channel.

I'm having a bit of trouble with my computer's sound. When I play any kind of audio, I get clear sound coming through the left channel, but either nothing or distorted sound on the right. After repeated checks, I've found that the right side plays very distorted bass, but nothing else. I've tried updating the drivers, but it tells me that they're up to date. There's nothing wrong with my speakers or headphones either.
Anyone got any idea what might be wrong?
Wait so no matter what device you use u get same result
A) There is something screwing with the sound driver (use a Linux LiveCD to check this)
B) Your sound card / chip has a dying channel
C) There is a bad connection with the socket and audio plug (most likely)
