After she allegedly goaded Conrad Roy into committing suicide earlier this year, Michelle Carter sent text messages to the youth’s family, asking if they knew where he was.
This according to court documents contained in Bristol County prosecutors’ 42-page rebuttal to Carter’s defense attorney, Joseph P. Cataldo, who is seeking to dismiss an involuntary manslaughter charge against Carter.
This is the most sociopathic shit I've read in a long time
This is the most sociopathic shit I've read in a long time
ya but its not exactly a good precedent to go after people for what they say to someone who may or may not commit suicide. its sort of a catch 22, ya she goaded him on, but i can't really say i am thrilled they want to charge her with a crime for his actions, its not like she killed him, he could have done that regardless of those text messages
Reading the entire article was difficult, she's disgustingly narcissistic.
the article doesn't make it very clear though, did she know of his suicide before she started asking around if he killed himself or did she learn of the suicide then start telling people about it?

If not involuntary manslaughter, at the very least criminal harassment. Tormenting someone in such a vulnerable position shouldn't be taken lightly.

well thats the problem right, they went overboard with manslaughter
man·slaugh·ter
the crime of killing a human being without malice aforethought, or otherwise in circumstances not amounting to murder.
they're basically saying she's the one who killed him, but i don't like the idea of charging people who are connected with a suicide with that person's death especially when they're a teenager
Looking through the court documents in the article, I'm really shocked someone has this line of thinking:
-She convinced the guy to commit suicide while she was DATING him.
-She attempted to lie to police and the guy's family, even though they saw her texts to him.
-Thought that she could ask her psychology teacher to help her in the case (???)
-Told her friend that she could've stopped the guy from killing himself, then immediately admitting to her friend that she told him to kill himself.
-Hosted a mental illness awareness event, but got argued with a Facebook friend about him "stealing her credit" for sharing her event on Facebook.
My head hurts tying to process this, I hope she gets a heavy sentencing.
Legally she did little wrong, but if crimes were purely based on morality then she'd be getting lethal injection. Let's hope this never escapes her socially.

The article is pretty clear, in her text messages she clearly indicates she was on the phone with him when he committed suicide. She even admits in her text messages that he got out of the car after becoming scared that the noxious gas was killing him and SHE ENCOURAGED him to get back into the car to finish the suicide. This is a disgusting action and without a doubt directly contributed to this poor kid killing himself, I hope she gets convicted of the manslaughter charge. Her actions are disgusting.
She literally told the guy to get back into the car, manslaughter is absolutely not overboard.
This kid is a true psychopath in the clinical sense.
I remember hearing about this case earlier on these forums and she's definitely incapable of empathy for other humans. She's a monster.

Her actions directly led to the death of another human being. Hell its worse then manslaughter in my opinion because there WAS malice behind the act.

That's tricky territory, I'm not sure it's entirely malice aforethought so much as a genuinely unsafe mental condition causing her to be unable to function like a normal human being
I'd really like to see her given a state psych eval before I pass any judgement, this is simply too unreal
In any case, she should probably spend the rest of her time away from the general public; whether that's in jail or in a mental care facility is better left to the professionals
She should be getting charged with murder, as it seems she wanted him to die.
At the very least wouldn't this be accessory to suicide?

This is like a textbook sociopath, and still you find somebody to defend her, christ.

Oh, she's going away, just to where's up for debate.

You should probably consider the fact that he can't spell a four letter word an inference into his level of intelligence

You do know it's entirely possible to be a shitty human being without have some UGHH ULTRA COMPLICATED DEEP SEATED PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEM. Jesus, you kids and your "Mental Evals" I wonder what you think that even consists of?

i guess you technically could turn any deviation in personality into a mental disorder
i guess you technically could turn any deviation in personality into a mental disorder
Deviation from what? Is there an ideal personality?

Sociopathy is a pretty deep seated psychological problem though so idk what you're harping about. I do also know what a "Mental Eval" entails

As much as you really need to make me out to be the bad guy for some reason, you should reread my post because I actually don't really care what the results are, I still think she should be removed from society for a very, very long time.
Like, really, what was the point of this post? Personality disorders are disorders because they are not orderly and as a result produce unwanted symptoms, like being a total asshole or encouraging someone to kill themselves, what bearing did your argument even have
