• Updated BIOS, now there's no signal on the monitor.

So I have an Asus P8P67 mobo, I decided to update it's bios, did whatever was necessary (downloaded the .ROM file, found it through the ez flash thing in the bios, it did something and said "update successful - system will reset" with a clickable Ok button. However, I couldn't use the mouse for some reason (I could use mouse in the bios beforehand) before, pressing enter on the keyboard did nothing as well. So I thought what the hell, and just rebooted. Now there's no signal coming to the monitor. For some fucking reason. I tried resetting CMOS, it did nothing. [editline]23rd February 2016[/editline] Yeah and after the initial power on press, buttons on the case do nothing. I power it off by toggling the PSU switch off
You might have to buy a new BIOS chip if nothing works. There's a couple sellers on eBay that could help you there
Fucking terrific, I need pc to work on uni stuff tomorrow
And this is why you only update a BIOS if there are problems and you believe that a bios update will fix it. Looks to be a soldered on BIOS chip. Replacing that will be a pain. You're probably best off trying to get a replacement board.

You have 2 options: 1) Unplug PC from the wall, remove CMOS battery and press power button a few times to discharge capacitors. 2) Write bios flash files to the usb stick or dvd root and start the computer with stick connected/dvd in drive. Motherboard should start ASUS EZ Flash 2 automatically. If this won't help then you are screwed.

I updated BIOS because I just replaced my old 4x2gb sticks of ram with 2x8gb. It worked but windows showed only 7gb usable, for some reason I thought updating bios would solve it :why: [editline]24th February 2016[/editline] The real problem is, there is an absolute lack of lga1155 mobos in my city, the only ones I could find were the cheapest H61 m-atx ones. However I have an asus service repair center here so I will call them and see of they can do anything to it. Yeah and a bios chip from eBay would arrive in April. Nice At least I have an old laptop to work on until this is sorted out
Second rule of thumb is that if a BIOS flash screws up ay ANY point before the machine reboots itself, take the time to verify in some way that the BIOS contents is not in a corrupt state (there's a few utilities for this) or flash the BIOS again and hope that after it says its finished it reboots. Also try another mouse or USB port. I have not flashed a BIOS in years but back in ye olden days you used to boot a DOS utility from a USB stick or floppy drive to ensure the minimal amount of variables in the flash that could interfere with the process. I don't know when or why mobo vendors would do the flashing while the Windows was running. [editline]MAd Chatter[/editline] Oh god, EFI. I've never flashed anything that used that.
I wish I haven't as well
Ok thankfully the service center was pretty fast (although they said they didn't have a test lga1155 processor so I had to bring my own lol), they reflashed the newest BIOS on the mobo and shit's fine now [img] https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17610513/ShareX/2016-02/2016-02-27_00-09-57.png[/img] After a quick tweak to boot settings windows sees all 16 gb as well
