Glad to see Microsoft stuck to their word about continuing support for other platforms, and I can't wait to see how they'll incorporate the GamePad. That said, boy do I feel bad if this just spoiled a surprise meant for tomorrow's Direct (2PM PT, by the way.)
No Minecraft 3DS?
Excellent news, and tbh I'm surprised it took this long; the WiiU and even the 3DS are basically tailor made for a game like Minecraft.

A bit odd they'd release a version of Minecraft for the Wii U this late in the game, but I guess it's a nice thing for people that only own a Wii U. If they do interesting things with the touchpad I might give it a look but I get the feeling that they probably won't.

Map 2. Full inventory management 3. Drawing on signs 4. Gyro aim and using - or + to swap screens even that would be pretty great imho
Bad thing is that this version will be on par with the Ps3/vita/360 versions instead of the much better Ps4/Xbone
Bad thing is that this version will be on par with the Ps3/vita/360 versions instead of the much better Ps4/Xbone
Why would it be? The Wii U is as good if not better than the Xbone and PS4
Why would it be? The Wii U is as good if not better than the Xbone and PS4
I bet he's one of those guys that thinks sheer power defines a console
I bet he's one of those guys that thinks sheer power defines a console
I mean, he's talking about how the console's technical limitations could end up resulting in a version that's closer to the 360/PS3 version than the Xbone/PS4 version. What else is he gonna refer to?
Why would it be? The Wii U is as good if not better than the Xbone and PS4
What do you mean? We're talking hardware performance here, not subjective qualities. It's not close in terms of GPU and CPU performance and RAM capacity. It's really closer to PS3 and 360 in that regard, hence why it'll get that version (no doubt it outclasses them though, it just doesn't come close to PS4 and X1)
Minecraft is a very intense game in terms of having a clusterfuck of things loaded simultaneously. As much as I love my Wii U, I can't see it handling all that well.

All my Minecraft experience comes from playing the PC and 360 versions, so I really had no idea how much better the Xbone/PS4 ones were. In that case, then sure. Don't see why the Wii U wouldn't have the new versions.
I really want us all to just pretend gyro aim doesn't exist, but other than that it'd be awesome.
gyro aims a lot better for aiming than a joystick, but only usable in short bursts
gyro aims a lot better for aiming than a joystick, but only usable in short bursts
A combination is super nice. In Gravity Rush for the PS Vita, you aimed roughly using the stick, and at the same time were able to do fine adjustments with the gyro. This resulted in really accurate and fast aiming.

Gyro aiming is a huge bonus. In fact, it makes controllers actually USABLE.

Yeah, I was confused why nobody has remembered that Markus Persson has no involvement in Minecraft now and quit a long time ago.
I'm not normally all that interested in Minecraft anymore, but the thought of what could be done with it using the Gamepad... Also, I wonder if it'd result in a Steve? Amiibo? If it did, they should probably have a limited version of the Amiibo that, when you turn it around, has a Red Leaf Pikmin hiding behind him. ChuggaaConroy would end up having a stroke if that happened.
