I realize i'm probably posting this to the wrong forum, as facepunch isn't really known for it's sports, but nonetheless, lets begin.
So what is snowboarding? Most people have seen it on TV in the Olympics or a Saturday-Special X-Games. But if you haven't, it's just a board, that you ride down on snow. It's hella fun.

A: Your first bet is probably trying it. Granted, it's April, so you're probably not going to get out this year unless you live near Tahoe or Denver, Just rent a board/boots at your local ski hill and dress warm, and prepare to fall on your ass a lot.

A: Perfect, it's my experience that most people do! And lucky for you, it's the end of the season, so you can nab some great deals! Check out dogfunk for some cheap gear, or your local ski shop. You can get boatloads off equipment.

A: Awesome! Try it out. First bet is doing some flat 180s, or trying to do some good ollies, or even being more adventurous and trying a 50-50. Here's some trick tips to help with the 50-50s.

remember, you don't need to find a regular rail, there's plenty of rails that are simply ride-ons. Super easy.

My experience with snowboarders is a guy plowing into my sister and disfiguring her knee for life. I took my ski pole and whacked him in the mouth.
A guy also screwed up my mom's ankles.
Agree if you're part of the skier master race.
I have nothing against skiers. My brother skis, and I'll probably end up skiing when I hit my 30's and can't be bothered to snowboard. Until then, I'll stick to my snowboard.

Everyone has bad experiences, but don't let that one guy ruin your image of snowboarding, most of us are pretty nice people.

Oh no doubt, some of my best friends and my brother are boarders. He's got a knack for trying to do flips and breaking his ass bones. :v:
The majority of the people I meet are all really nice after they plow into you.

If I had a ski pole for every time I've been near-missed by a boarder I would have a metric fuckton of ski poles I would have no idea what to do with. I don't think many charities ask for ski poles.
I don't know why I'm such a board magnet, I go straight down the mountain turning just a little when I hit powder.
I didn't know how to stop my first time snowboarding. I just strapped one on and went for it. I didn't know a tree branch could pierce your cheek.

if you ski thats fine with me dont whine about snowboarders, its not all snowboarders just dumb people. i've been wrecked by a skier before, and stray poles in the powder have made me fall/wrecked my board a number of times.

I really want to try snowboarding, unfortunately i live in Peru, the snowed peaks are far from where i live, and are barely coated with snow on their steep slopes.
I tried it once. I was shit at it. I gave up. I fell voer while giving up. My friend came snowboarding into my head at around a billion miles per hour. Thank God the helmets are amazing.
going to get my own gear next season, i just started last winter and love it.
I usually go skiing, but I think I'll try snowboarding next time.
funniest thing on the mountain is seeing 50 year old snowboarders
but they are badass
I snowboard a few times in the winter. Me and my dad drive to Holiday Mountain (la rivier in Manitoba, Canada), snowboard all day, then go home.
Personally I'm not a stunt person, I do go down the freestyle slope but only if I'm feeling determined to actually stick the landing on a jump. I just go fast down the intermediate slope.
Playing the SSX series in my childhood is what got me into snowboarding.
also, last time I went snowboarding I was on a chairlift, two guys were on the freestyle slope and one was going down the hill backwards with a camera, the other hit a large jump and did a 360. There was a few people standing beside the jump, the guy recording slammed into one of them. I didn't hear any conversation after, I I'm pretty sure they had to re-record the jump.
Fuck its the beginning of summer here.
