HMV removes all of Lostprophets' music from every store

HMV have announced that they will no longer sell releases by Lostprophets. The high-street retailer has vowed to remove the band's past music from all 140 of their stores after frontman Ian Watkins admitted to 11 sex abuse charges, including the attempted rape of a baby.
It is unusual for a major retailer to entirely remove an artist's catalogue, even after a major conviction: HMV continue to sell records by Gary Glitter, Burzum and Charles Manson.

Knee-jerk reaction much?
Wow. In addition to being a pretty irrational/useless decision it's particularly dickish towards the other band members and all the other people involved in the recordings.
Huh, I used to listen to Lostprophets years ago.
The article doesn't really say what happened or why the store removed all music and merchandise. All it says is that one of the members got arrested and the rest split up.
There were 5 other members of that band, doesn't seem right that they should suffer because of what happened.

Hey, If you'll bring a gun we'll bring an arsenal was a favorite of mine.
Still listening to they're music now, regardless of what he's done the band and it's music were awesome.

There was a past article where the lead singer basically said to one of his girlfriends "if i own you, i own your baby too", and basically tried, or succeeded at literally raping a baby
there were also a few other molestation incidences, too
really this is hurting no one but themselves. now the people who want to listen to their work will have to pirate it or buy it from other stores.
This is more of a symbolic move than anything. Artists barely see anything from record sales, they get more from selling merchandise and touring and such. This hurts the record label more than anyone else.
The only way I can see this being effective is to avoid possible vandalism, for such a sickening crime, you can jump to a possible conclusion of someone getting sick at the sight of the bands CD and they possibly end up attempting to destroy them.
But, just a thought, they haven't said why so just my idea.
and people will look els where like ITunes
this might be cause for an outcry if you didn't take the whole "tried to fuck a baby" into account
Won't make much difference, it looks as though HMV is largely going the way of blockbuster.
hmv needs to go into admistration mate, it's a really dull example of a mainstream music store. Virgin Megastores was the shit..

HMV has been slowly becoming irrelevant over the past 10 years as well, I only went in there recently to check their prices on Blu-ray's because its where a relative of mine goes to get things like that because he doesn't shop online.
i was saying to my flatmate that the other members of the lost prophets have got a shit time coming for them. All the effort and time they put in, shows and so on, and image they've made themselves... to be ruined because some cunt was a kiddie fiddler. So now, even though they had no part in it whatsoever, are now tarnished. Their music and effort will be gone and discredited forever.

Yeah, the stores and record label will be dealing with some lost profits now.
[sp]i am so sorry[/sp]
When I read the thread title, I was thinking "oh, did they say something bad about the music industry or something like that? Time to listen to all of their music!"
But then "attempted rape of a baby" and yeah uh no
I do feel sorry for the other band members (assuming they didn't know, which isn't that hard to assume), but not enough to think this isn't somewhat rational.
The club I work at are never gonna play their music again. The day of the trial I was up there and when the music faded out between songs someone yelled out "play some lostprophets!" :v:

Whether this is actually true or not I don't know, but my drum teacher says he went to university with one of LP's drummers. He was only a session drummer and got no royalties from album sales once they had finished recording anyway
