Sounds to me like these guys need to play Gender Bender DNA Twister Extreme
kind of a dick move to take points away from halo for the woman wanting to start a family??
The armor was to be shipped to Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 pending her approval. However, the officer hints that she could have one of her own if she reenlisted into the UNSC. Maria declines, stating that she wanted to start a family. So, in the span of a few panels, Halo scores a point for gender equality, then loses two.
Ugh. I've never really seen the Halo series as being gender un-equal really. There are plenty of strong independent female characters who don't need no 7 foot super soldiers.
Apart from Halo 4 when Cortana's character goes a bit squiffy.

Infact the character deserves more points really since the Spartans were psychologically conditioned to want to serve in the military. They're basically brainwashed and this woman is like "no."
That's an absolutely awful choice in pictures to represent female versions of the TF2 mercs. There's about a dozen things wrong with like almost every one of those character.
Can't female characters be their own thing? Do we need to be the "Female Master Chief"?

Isn't Chief totally mindfucked to the point that he just freezes himself and waits for another war?

honestly, this article feels more like a crusade to change genders for perverse reasons rather than anything particularly equalist in nature.
notes taken from the questionable tf2 image as well as the "femme fetale" agent 42.
there should be female versions of every character, because characters aren't allowed to just be male
However, the officer hints that she could have one of her own if she reenlisted into the UNSC. Maria declines, stating that she wanted to start a family. So, in the span of a few panels, Halo scores a point for gender equality, then loses two.
How the fuck does her wanting to start a family lose two points?
Y'know, I'm all for gender equality and all that jazz, I really am. Why in the flying fuck do people feel they need to influence the artistic choice behind a character's gender, though? If the designers of the game/character wanted the character to be male, then tough fucking titty, they're male. If they wanted them to be female, then holy dick goblin, batman! The character's female!
Thor is a one of a kind mythological character that has existed for centuries and is always shown as a dude which is why the new Thor is such a shock. But within the context of the Marvel universe, anyone can be Thor as long as the hammer sees them as worthy. They had an existing way to get away with the idea. They didn't just pull some bullshit out their ass just for the sake of "equality".
Pretty much none of the characters in this list have anything like that other than Master Chief since the guy doesn't have a monopoly on military ranks.
I get the general point is that there should be more strong female characters, but gender flipping male characters left and right just because one company did it is a dumb way to do that.
The Splitter Cell setting was always more of a cheesy, macho, American action spy movie. I don't agree with flipping his character; however, approaching the setting from a different angle with a female character could prove interesting and marketable. Just have to avoid tropes.
Isn't Chief totally mindfucked to the point that he just freezes himself and waits for another war?
well he freezes himself because he was drifting in space for like 4 years
but yeah, he's mindfucked. more likely than not PTSD'd to fuck, and plus he's in love with an AI
??????

Gender roles. Not to mention the family is a patriarchal concept that inherently breaks females into subservient positions.
I mean a female TF2 character set would be bomb as fuck but that drawing is so off of what I would imagine it to be that I really just can't take it seriously.
Gender roles. Not to mention the family is a patriarchal concept that inherently breaks females into subservient positions.
family is what you make of it. i have a single parent mum and i consider this a family.
what now?
I thought ShackNews sucked but now they've done a shitty article on Rule 63. This is a new low.

I love how every time this sort of argument is brought up, someone is bound to say, "nuh uh, it's not that simple, remember how publishers rejected Remember Me because it had a female protag?", even though it was more likely rejected for being kind of a shitty game in general.

Or maybe it's the natural cycle of life and death???
Shacknews has slowly degenerated from okay articles and reviews to clickbait garbage, and I think the point where it became shit coincides with their Hip Modern UI website makeover.
how about instead of lazily recycling existing characters, just create a good female character
there you go game industry, i solved all of your problems

I just noticed that the Scout and Demo(wo)man got a race swap for some reason. And the Demo(wo)man has both eyes. And nothing really looks like it'd fit in with 1972.
The more you look at it the worse it gets.
These obnoxious, entitled people are starting to annoy me "waaagh, I want to play as a girl, it's unfair!" These social justice warriors should focus their attention on something important, not some first world problem.
"The recent announcement that a woman will be taking up Thor’s hammer shook up the comic book community."
lmao it didn't shake the comic book community, most of the people who were surprised or mad at the change are people who don't even read comics
those tf2 designs are just absolute garbage

It's pretty much like when Miles Morales became the new ultimate universe spidey, most people pissed off at pandering were people who never read comics.

Nah lets just gender bender everyone because its all the rage and social justic warriors and crazy feminists like it and think it will change a whole fucking lot.
When a story calls for a female protagonist, they'll create one. I really don't think having players control a female character drives sales down. I just don't want the video game industry to go and pull a Marvel, totally changing a character's race and gender and personality just to appease a vocal minority.
Like that time when people got pissed over Geralt being straight, you know, a developed character in previous games and novels.
Can't female characters be their own thing? Do we need to be the "Female Master Chief"?
This, leave that shit to boring story driven games like mass effect or elder scrolls.
