Ok, so I make my project in iMovie, export it, it turns it into a .m4v. I burn it using iDVD, but it wont play in my DVD player, and I don't really have a clue on what to do. Can anyone help?
Export it and just use iDVD or Toast if you have them.

I thought that m4v was protected from iTunes? Make sure to pay attention to the burn format capabilities and requirements of the DVD players that you want to use for playback. Some newer video formats will not play back on older, inexpensive players

Open the disc itself and see if it has Audio/Video TS or if it's a single file. It should work (in theory) if it has the Audio/Video TS folders.
