Thirteen - Push your luck at the Alton Towers Resort!
UK theme park announces launch of the world's first 'Psychoaster' for March 2010
Today, the Alton Towers Resort has announced that it will be launching the ultimate rollercoaster Thirteen on 20th March 2010.
Until now, Thirteen has been kept top secret under the name "Secret Weapon 6” and is the subject of much speculation from fans. The new £15m ride is billed to be the scariest in the UK and will join a long line of world first attractions at the Alton Towers Resort including "Nemesis", "Oblivion" and "Air".
Thirteen will be based on the discovery of an unearthed ancient burial site in an area of unexplored woodland known as the Dark Forest. Built on the site of the old Corkscrew rollercoaster, visitors will be invited to take a petrifying ride on Thirteen, venturing into the seemingly living and breathing Dark Forest. There they will face an unknown horror that has been unleashed from the ancient crypt.
The ride has been developed with the world's leading coaster and thrill consultants who have collaborated to combine the ultimate elements of physical and psychological fear - to create what experts are dubbing a ‘psychoaster’.
The new technology will be the first of its kind in the world and will potentially make the ride so frightening that the Resort is considering introducing a controversial age-rating. Only visitors between the ages of 16-55 will be allowed on the ride due to concerns about emotional maturity and physical health. Visitors may also be limited to one ride per day and be required to sign a waiver which assures the Resort of their physical and mental health to avoid any resulting lawsuits.
The track is practically done, they are working on the theming now, look on the flickr link above for up-to-date track pics :)
I can't wait , just as long as they remove the age limit and just have a height limit
Whooo, i love Alton Towers, Thorpe Park has always been superior though.
Oh wow if this coaster really gets the inner fear above it'll be one of the best coasters ever imo. That's what I go into a coaster for; get scared shitless and then brag about it to my friends.
A ride that has an age restriction for it's level of psycological fear? Not heard of that one before.
Rollercoasters...
:ohdear:
I hate alton towers, you always spend more time waiting in lines than actually going on rides
Run? The coaster?

Go in the week, I spent about 30 minute queueing total on a tuesday.
Also, saw them building this when I went at halloween, they had those lot with those robes wandering around screaming at people. I did a metal scream back and startled them. :black101:
I think the "planning a 16-55 age limit" might just be there to hype the ride and get attention.

I sure hope so :)
I love Alton Towers. I live within 30 miles of it so I can get there early!
Alton Towers is pretty awesome when there's small queues.
I hope it's as scary as they say it will be.

At Alton Towers I got there first when it opened and got to Oblivion first, they were still carrying out morning maintenance but all the guys did was walk up and down the track once kicking and looking at a few pieces, I was shitting myself when I got into the seat. The fear of poor maintenance is worse than the drop.
I was thinking the age hype would be a clever ploy to mean only people that were paying full adult ticket price could get on, but apparently you're an adult when you're 12 at Alton Towers as far as pricing is concerned
Fucking awesome, I love AT.
Also, an age limit? When I was 10 I went on every thrill ride there. Pretty stupid.
I lost my fear of rollercoasters long ago.. Now I just laugh manically as I go round and people look at me like I'm insane :frown:
I love alton towers, I thought Nemesis was scary enough but clearly this will be better.

Same here. Went on Kingda Ka without a second thought.
You peeps should post how many miles/drive time you are approx from AT.
I'm roughly 60 miles away ( 1 hr 40 mins ) :)

Bribe the controller.
I live in the SW of Scotland so it's 361 mi for me – about 6 hours 44 mins.
The Images say "Th13teen". That doesn't make any fucking sense. Ohh you made "13" look like an I and an R. Bra-fucking-vo. Everywhere else it looks fucking stupid. For example, anywhere but the logo it says ThIBteen. Who the fuck comes up with this shit? Just call it thirteen.

Calm the fuck down, I cannot edit the title now and I was in a sort of rush to finish the thread before I had to go before

I wasn't insulting you. Your mistaken title actually looks better than Alton Towers effort. Atleast it could be construed as "Therteen", not brilliant but better.
Who cares about how the rides name is spelled? I care about the ride itself.

South west scotland? Where are you?
I'm in southern scotland - the borders to be precise. It's around a three / four hour journey.
I think I just may give these fellows a visit
I'd probably have a seizure like Micky in my avatar
I hate roller coasters :sigh:
