Hi, I'm going to upgrade my 8600 gt, I was thinking of getting the gtx 260, but I'm not really sure. My price range is anything around 250$ and below. I was at first going to get the 9800gt, but I heard the gtx 260 is better. Any suggestions?
5770 or 4870 or 4890 But just don't get the 9800gt
5770 if your powersupply supports it.
Don't buy nVidia right now. They're bang for buck sucks right now. The 5770 is on par with the GTX 260 and is much cheaper. I second the 5770 motion. [editline]10:21PM[/editline] If he can run a 8600GT on his current PSU he can run a 5770. Just make sure you have some PCI-Es.
I'd wait for the 5830 to come out, which should be fairly soon, or you can save up another $40 and get a 5850, provided your PSU can handle it. Cool, I'll take a look at the 5770, can someone link me to the Amazon page with it?

I've decided on a 4890, anyone have a good link where I can buy it from? Thanks lot for the info!
Buy all your PC related things from http://www.newegg.com

This thread is relevant to my interests. I'm currently running a 8600GT myself and preparing to upgrade, but im thinking of switching to ATI because of price and performance things right now. So i have a budget of 300$ would the 5850 be a good choice, and if so what brands of ATI are trustworth, how EVGA is to Nvidia

[editline]11:29PM[/editline] I probably missed a few, but those are the ones that came to mind for me.
Thanks I'll upgrade my PSU if needed.
What's your current PSU?
Thanks I'll upgrade my PSU if needed.
Make sure it's a quality PSU and not some hunk of shit that says "500W".
Make sure it's a quality PSU and not some hunk of shit that says "500W".
That, and he needs two PCI-E cables.
I have the two cables, but I have a 450 watt pcu so I'll get a new one, by the way what kind of FPS difference will I see in games like TF2 maxed out?
I have the two cables, but I have a 450 watt pcu so I'll get a new one
Not necessarily, you might be in the clear. Open the case, take a pic of the PSU label and post it here.
I have the two cables, but I have a 450 watt pcu so I'll get a new one, by the way what kind of FPS difference will I see in games like TF2 maxed out?
You're looking at roughly 120+ FPS in TF2 maxed out with full AA and AF @ 1920x1080. They might drop down to around 80 if you're in an intense battle with lots of stuff going on. It's not that demanding of a game. And don't get a new PSU, your 450W will do fine.
Really? 450 W is good enough for a xfx HD 4890?
Really? 450 W is good enough for a xfx HD 4890?
Ohh you're going for the 4890 now? And yeah, you're still fine with the PSU.
Awesome! Now I just have to save up all the money. Thanks a lot, you were a big help!
I've had two XFX cards now total, a 4890 and a 9600 GSO, and I can definitely say that they're a GREAT graphics card company.
:hfive: Hell yeah budddyyy! I currently have a XFX 4670.
get a 5770 for sure, i got one in december and its awesome :D cheap too, ~150 usd or so
