• I bought a nVidia 9800 GT a few weeks ago. It is worth it.

I replaced my 8600 GT with a 9800 GT and guess how happy I am now. Every game that I have runs smoothy with full graphs, except for GTA IV wich still has to look like sh!t and still runs with 10 - 15 FPS. But there is one thing that bothers me: If you run CS 1.6 on a Vista, why does the computers fan spinn like it would soon fling off?
Use rivatuner and play with the fan speed.
Wow you're pretty slow getting the 9800 GT just NOW
Wow you're pretty slow getting the 9800 GT just NOW
I've still got a 7900 GTX.
I've still got a 7900 GTX.
But you wouldn't buy a 9800 GT now is my point
GTA4 needs cpu, not gpu mostly.
But you wouldn't buy a 9800 GT now is my point
You would if its cheap, which they are - and they are still very good cards today.
But you wouldn't buy a 9800 GT now is my point
Not everyone has money to throw around.
4850 would've been better
But you wouldn't buy a 9800 GT now is my point
I did when my card killed itself. I'm extremely happy with it, and I didn't have to upgrade my PSU.
9600 GSO Crysis on high Havent tested with AA 1280x1024
You should have done 4850.
You should have done 4850.
Yes he should have
I need to learn the numbering system for ATI cards. I used to love nVidia, but I'm really starting to like ATI. I just can't seem to trust that an ATI will be able to run what I expect for some reason. My friend has a 9800GT and can run some pretty amazing stuff, but I think I would get an ATI when I next get a computer.
hint: love both, get whatever's best for your budget. You don't have to chose sides, the real winners are those who save because they resist the urge to fantard
got this last year for Christmas when I upgraded my rig, It's a nice card :D
Yeah exactly as I've seen. I've seen people spend an extra 50-100 pounds simply because they don't want the other card. Even if the spec is pretty much the same. [editline]09:30PM[/editline] @The Madness.
The 9800GT is a great card for the money, especially nowadays since it's not cutting edge.
except the 4850 is even better for the same money.
The 9800 series was a great step up from the 8800 series. I always say that mt 9800GTX+ does a lot more than my 8800GT but nobody believes me. It's a lot better. I couldn't play Stalker at DX8 Static Lighting with more than 20+ FPS with the 8800, but the 9800 gives me like 40+ in Full Dynamic.
Wow you're pretty slow getting the 9800 GT just NOW
snip.

I got my 9800 GT months ago and it was P. cheep on newegg. Its a nice card.
Isn't the 9800GT virtually the same performance-wise as a 9600GT?

I think you under the placebo effect because hardware difference isn't really that big its just a re branded 8800gt with gtx for overclocked then + meant something but it wasn't supposed to have much of an effect. All you did was get a card with a smaller die which gets you more Oc potential and little cooler. Also my 8800gt rape stalker 1 maxed out with graphics mods and gets pissy with 2 on dx10 maxed, rain and Aa and lots of lights will bring anything down.
except the 4850 is even better for the same money.
the 4850 is amazing
GTX 260. :smug:
