I just noticed it's dirty as all shit. Can I just wipe it down, or do I need some kind of special anti-viral asbestos cream I put in every 4 to 6 hours?
Don't think so

You need monitor wipes, but I dunno where to get them specifically
Use a lint-free cloth (glasses cloths work amazing). At least that's how I clean my laptop screen. My monitor isn't dirty :P
I just apply a bit of water to a tissue and clean the dirty spots. Nothing bad has happened so far.
I just use wet paper towels.
I use windex on my CRTS :smug:
Yeah, its water not acidic enough to damage it.
I went to dry it but I accidentally grabbed a sock instead of the towel and now there's hair on my screen.
Oh well, at least it's clean. Thanks bros.
50/50 mix of water and rubbing alcohol. cleans my screens beautifully.

and cloth is better, or anything really soft. it catches stuff like grains of dirt and sand instead of spreading it around like paper towels can do.
Do it when the screen is cool, if whatever cleaning product you are using evaporates too quickly it will leave streaks. I just use aerosol glass cleaner and a microfiber towel.
Use an LED flashlight on the screen when it is off, you'll be able to see very clearly what is on the monitor.
Water + paper towel works for me.
Water is perfectly safe for cleaning a screen. Just don't put the monitor in the shower.
Using alcohol or glass cleaner will ruin the coating on the screen.
I have always cleaned my LCDs with nothing but water.
IT works perfectly, Why use chemicals when you don't have to?
Yes, soaking it in water works like a charm.
I usually use a wet cloth though.
i lick my hand and wipe the screen

cheap and works fine

Gross
~50/50 Rubbing Alcohol and Water, or those Eyeglass Lens Cleaning Cloths.
I use my dad's shirts and some tea to clean it fast, now it tastes sweet because of sugar. And it's pretty clean.

Not really, why?
Distilled water should work nicely.
I use rubbing alcohol.

I use a little bit less alcohol but this works perfectly. All of the monitor wipes/solutions use this as well, it works much better than just water for me.
