Microsoft's Internet Explorer has long been one of the longest running failures in the Microsoft world. However with IE9 they've finally started to get it together. Here's some neat facts about this pre-alpha version of IE9. Acid3:
Failed 45 of 100 tests. Faster than firefox? oh wow.
Meh, chrome still wins, but maybe now people won't use Memory Leaking Firefox, silly memory leaking firefox.
Meh, chrome still wins, but maybe now people won't use Memory Leaking Firefox, silly memory leaking firefox.
It's called a Cache. Learn what it is and what it does. There's no memory leak in Firefox. [editline]02:51PM[/editline]
Faster than firefox? oh wow.
Yeah but 3.7 and IE9 are nearly the same. Considering IE9 isn't even in Alpha stages yet, I say that's pretty damn impressive.
Posting from IE9 It's working kinda fine, some problems swtiching away from pages else it's faster than FF and does stuff like it should. I really hope Microsoft doesn't fuck this up.
:golfclap: Well done Microsoft. Hopefully it can make that Acid3 test pass before release and then we'll get some good browser wars going on for html5.
Sounds good that microsoft are finally making a decent browser. Now, lets see if they open up for some nice addons. Chrome did it, and got popular after the addons. So did firefox. I really hope Microsoft allows this.
IE has had add-on support for ages.
See what gets me is that Microsoft isn't shooting for the best but just better than one better them.
Oh yes, anti-aliasing on large format text. At long last. Thank god. [editline]09:40PM[/editline] They aren't shooting for the best in everything in order to be realistic. I believe they made an overview of what on average takes the longest in loading a site and then prioritised how to optimize accordingly.
However with IE9 they've finally started to get it together.
Well you know, that's pretty much what they said back with IE8 as well. I frankly don't care alot about IE but i do hope they finally get at least their CSS right because fitting websites to IE was always a pain in the ass.

Jesus the map zooming is so responsive, this shit is actually useful now. Wow. Fuck.
IE has had add-on support for ages.
Guess I'm late then, I guess I never looked for it :v:.
All those shitty toolbars are addons no?
inb4 zero-day exploit (User was banned for this post ("Meme" - Benji))
I seriously lol'd at in the demo at a section saying "show your ie pride with a custom t-shirt"
Faster than firefox? oh wow.
it's not exactly hard, firefox is slow as a disabled snail riding a tortoise with arthritis
it's not exactly hard, firefox is slow as a disabled snail riding a tortoise with arthritis
Well, chrome must be as slow a child with down syndrome learning algebra
Well you know, that's pretty much what they said back with IE8 as well. A new browser version doesn't mean the old ones suddenly disappear.

I didn't say i'm just gonna ignore IE, compatibility has to be provided up to some point but still it's a pain in the ass. Doesn't mean i won't do it.
Well microsoft has damn well tried their hardest to shove the latest browser down everyone's throats so it's not like they aren't trying to make only the latest browser relevant.
Do I win? Btw I have chrome up cause I'm trying it out as it's hyped
I don't give a fuck about speed. All I care about are the addons, of which firefox has the most.
posting in ie9 :smug: It's quite slow atm
is it really worth there time making IE9? surly it would just make sense to admit defeat then repackage windows with either chrome or firefox (preferably firefox)

Good to know that in its current state, it's still shit. :downs:
Wow you're such a tool. On another topic the animated SVG support and javascript stuff, in concert with the html5 video stuff makes me think that mayhaps finally flash can die the horrible death it deserves. It won't be missed. [editline]10:20PM[/editline]
Good to know that in its current state, it's still shit. :downs:
Because Acid3 > functionality.
Just saying that it's only 3 marks higher than Firefox 2.0 was just over two years ago.
