• My WIP Artifact (S.T.A.L.K.E.R) (Big Slow Loading Pics)

So I decided to have a go at drawing my own artifact the other day. In fact I am going to make it, and this was just a rough drawing, now it's not so rough, and I hope to improve this over time. Version with glow 17 layers (glow quality raped in upload) OH JESUS THAT DARK+GLOW RAPE IS UGLY! Version without glow 14 layers (still some quality rape in darker areas) I would say that it is 50-75% Complete, I hope to at some point add a background, better glow, maybe a PDA type description. The brown spot is a rough lighting reference, the light type is a bright moon at night. FUCK, quality rape, just uploaded these in a zip so that those that want to can see better versions (comes with Gimp .xcf file): http://www.mediafire.com/?ytzti2gathd C&C appreciated! Also anyone willing to tell me why there is quality rape, and also recommend a good image hosting site that does not re-size images? Also I am now purchasing the last things I need to make something somewhat like this in real life. These are: Polyfiller- for the rock itself Brown/grew paints- for the rock Blue LED's- for the glow in the crystal Resin (polyester with catalyst)- for the crystal Transparent blue resin dye- for the crystal General wires and switches- for the circuitry UV paint- for the rock in combination with a UV torch UV LED's- to make a UV torch various other little bits

Well at least you told me, Ill get around to fixing that problem soon. Although you could have downloaded the rather small zip file. [editline]06:39PM[/editline] Fixed Hopefully
The blue things glow but doesn't seem to light up surfaces. For example those white balls should reflect the glowing. And outlines - if you plan that final picture will be without them - make sure it looks good without them in early stages and there are no white spots behind them. And as far as layers are good, you shouldn't overuse them if you don't want to have a clusterfuck. You can unite layers if they are finished for example.
really doesn't fit the STALKER theme very well, it seems too cartoony. almost looks like it was designed for a cartoony game like WoW
The illumination has yet to be done, yes. As to both the cartoony and line comments, which are closely linked, I do not plan to remove the lines, as this is part of how I draw, and although cartoony, this image is really just a sketch to illustrate an idea, it started as a brown+white sketch, and this is just the next step. Honestly I'd remove the bone, It doesn't look like it belongs in there.
I have heard as much from my friends, it is going. They kept asking why I had a picture of my (evil) Graphic Products GCSE teacher with a penis impaling it. But oh well, at least it will be more true to the re-creation now. BTW no work will be done until tomorrow, I need to sleep.
REMOVE THE BONE NAO!!! /caps /spelling
