However the government has indicated it will not recognise the Constitutional Court's judgment. The new rules increase the number of judges needed for a ruling and change the order in which cases are heard. The court's verdict means the country is heading towards a constitutional crisis, observers say. The government is already coming under scrutiny from both Brussels and Washington for allegedly endangering democratic checks and balances, says the BBC's Adam Easton in Warsaw. Since coming to power in October, the Law and Justice party (PiS) has regularly come to blows with the media and the opposition.
BBC What's really disgusting is that they plan to stack the top court and change the rules so that it will be harder for them to hand down any decision at all.
How DARE you say such damned lies you sub-sort human, you'll go to jail for this ...is literally what our gov't is doing right now. Not kidding about calling people a "worse sort of person" Recently our president was being and idiot and crashed his car, obviously the party went into pull paranoia mode claiming it was obviously an assassination attempt (just like smoleńsk totally was :downs: ), and threatens anyone who's making fun out of the situation online with legal punishment.
Wow who voted for these guys.

Although a dictator would probably just throw the person in jail and go about their day as if nothing happen.
Wow who voted for these guys.
I'm guessing there's shit tons of corruption involved.
Wow who voted for these guys.
The graveyard constituency, obviously.
Name suits them.
What's really disgusting is that they plan to stack the top court and change the rules so that it will be harder for them to hand down any decision at all.
Ah, so it's like the US Supreme Court, then?
So, poland became a bastion of freedom and change in 91' And now they tanked behind? THAT hard? Wtf EDIT: Shit, I had to edit that date quickly. I made an unexpected anschluss
So, poland became a bastion of freedom and change in 91' And now they tanked behind? THAT hard? Wtf
Poland has been occupied and partitioned countless times. Most recently it was invaded in 1939, abandoned by the Allies in 1945, and wasn't liberated until 1991, and you're surprised things are still rocky? That said, Poland is still one of the best countries in the region, aside from Austria and Germany.
I really like how I've run into news about police just having bought over two thousand tear gas grenades. Things could get pretty freaky soon. [editline]10th March 2016[/editline] Gotta clear that up: they put up an offer wanting to buy over 2000 tear gas grenades.
However the government has indicated it will not recognise the Constitutional Court's judgment.
okay so what official legal response is there to this other than angry letters from the U.N.
okay so what official legal response is there to this other than angry letters from the U.N.
Strongly worded angry letters from the U.N.
You've got a dictator in power. Although a dictator would probably just throw the person in jail and go about their day as if nothing happen.
Yeah, a dictator wannabe at least. Jarosław Kaczynski, who in theory holds no position of power (and as such, no responsibility for illegal actions of the ruling party) but he de facto directly orders PM Szydło and President Duda. There's all kinds of straight up obscene shit going on, i wouldn't know where to start [editline]10th March 2016[/editline] I don't think the UN gives a shit, and if it does, the party sure won't.
*wrong thread, extremely*
Wow who voted for these guys.
Old people because PiS likes to be butt friends with the church (and as you prolly know Poland is a very catholic country) and young, uneducated people who want to make themselves a couple of children and live off the child's care package. also, people who say they're frustrated with our previous party (which wasn't exactly good either and really takes the blame for PiS winning) but at least they didn't pull all that crazy paranoia bridge-burning pocket dictator shit for example, po tried to maintain good relations and a good image internationally, while pis is like a 12 year old doing pr. When pis gets called out for trying to change the constitution in their favor, they throw a bitch fit screaming how it's the fucking germans amd they wan't to destroy us kaczynski is a fucking delusional relict of ages long gone by, not that he ever was particularly sensible
So, can Germany get the rest of Prussia now? No? ok...
okay so what official legal response is there to this other than angry letters from the U.N.
UN won't really give a shit about a state's internal politics if it doesn't violate any international laws. The EU might put pressure on them though since they're pretty xenophobic and blame everything bad on Germany.

Oh, and after the government refused to publish the court's verdict (it has to be otherwise it's not considered as legal act), the opposition decided to screen it directly at PM's office
