Time magazine executive editor Michael Duffy defended the publication’s controversial cover picturing a profile of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie with the headline “The Elephant in the Room.”
“Well, he’s obviously a big guy. He’s obviously a big Republican. But he’s also done a really huge thing here this week,” Duffy said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Hardball with Chris Matthews” when asked what was meant by the headline. “He stood astride the Republican Party and said, ‘Stop. We don’t have to make our whole appeal about narrow base issues.’ And that campaign showed it with the demographics you talked about.”
Seriously? This cover is so obviously not about his weight.

Do you think the ones saying this care?

At all?
I think its a good title.

Well it kind of is, but I don't see his weight issues as a huge detractor. He is closer to most Americans in physique then most politicians, and shows he's not infallible.

He's a republican. He's in a room. Elephant in the room.
magic
He's a republican and he's the obvious choice for a moderate GoP because he can at least be reasoned with.
He wouldn't be a completely shit candidate for President.
he is a fatty

The physical appearance of public figures plays a large part in their interaction with the populace. If this kind of thing comes as a shock to Chris or any of his associates then they have a lot to learn about being a political celebrity.
I think the saddest, or perhaps moreso frightening, thing is that Christie is one of the sanest people in the GOP right now. He's still an awful person, but he is miles ahead of most of the rest of the GOP.
He's a RINO. The Republican party doesn't like him, but they're ignoring him because he's one of the best candidates to front the next election for their party at the moment.

Oh god, why did I decided to browse through the comments. It's like chewing on tin foil.

For the GOP maybe but he's done loads of douchy things.
Last president we had that was big was Taft, and we did alright then

it partially is lol. you think the person who picked the title didn't think of that? you are insulting the time staff by saying such a thing.
they picked this title because it works on several different levels. it is actually incredibly clever. it shouldn't be considered insulting though.
