• Care For a Next-Gen Medieval RPG With No Fantasy?
Eurogamer Czech editor Jan Doskocil has been following the game's development more closely and reiterated the company's struggle to find a publisher and funding beyond a $3-$4 million investment by one of the richest people in the Czech Republic, Zdenek Bakala. I mentioned the possibility of funding via Kickstarter below and apparently this is an avenue Warhorse is openly interested in exploring.
Videos that are included pictures, too. An RPG based on medieval times would be good.
i don't like the look of cryengine 3
I'm going to abstain from commenting on this. Soul reason is because of medieval games that looked promising, but ended up playing like shit. Like War of the Roses. I'll wait till' I see some more footage.
you just commented on it
Man, I'd love a good non-fantasy/magic bullshit medieval RPG. Preferably non-linear, like a Mount and Blade that's not as dated, buggy and clunky.
So if it's no fantasy, will it be realistic. Will people be throwing shit out into the street like how it used to be before plumbing.
The RPS article on it says
Developer Warhorse is made up of vets from 2K Czech and Arma powerhouse Bohemia, so expect obsessive attention to detail.
and those vets from 2K Czech, yeah the guys who made the first Mafia. I have insanely high hopes for this game.
So if it's no fantasy, will it be realistic. Will people be throwing shit out into the street like how it used to be before plumbing.
I bet there will be exclusive shit throwing out the window simulation for Nvidia cards with PhysX.
Like Mount and Blade 2 which they are currently making? :v:
Sure, but I don't trust Mount and Blade 2 to be any less buggy or clunky. Eastern Europeans make damn good games, yeah, but they handle like bricks and got more bugs than your mother's pubic hair.
Like Mount and Blade 2 which they are currently making? :v:
It's called Mount & Blade: Bannerlord. Also all the mount and blade games (save for fire and sword) are set in a fantasy realm, no magic but the locals and factions do not exist.

[editline]19th December 2013[/editline]
Well not like this is a western game either :v:
Czech Republic is central-european, with the misfortune of being former east-bloc. It's in the same lump as Germany and Austria. Slovakia is eastern European.
Oh finally. I've always hated all these "magical dragon fairy" garbage things they put in games. No offense to anyone who likes stuff like Skyrim, I just see no real need to fill every medieval RPG and (obviously not always medieval) MMO with magic. I get it, magic was apparently the "thing" of medieval times (actually, it wasn't, it was incredibly rare to see any kind of witch or wizard or whatever) , but that doesn't mean every single game about the time period needs to have some major basis around its usage.

Pretty much everyone knew how to toss fireballs and summon dragons and shit. It wasn't before gunpowder was invented the magic disappeared from the world.

Vastly oversimplifying for everything but Elder Scrolls, of course.

CZECH GAME DEVELOPMENT SHALL RENDER SUPREME ONCE AGAIN
The RPS article on it says and those vets from 2K Czech, yeah the guys who made the first Mafia. I have insanely high hopes for this game.
ArmA veterans are making it? Sweet. Maybe we can get arrows that are actually as lethal as they are irl.
Everything about this reminds me of Warband. Thats pretty great.
Czech Republic is central-european, with the misfortune of being former east-bloc. It's in the same lump as Germany and Austria. Slovakia is eastern European.
But Mount & Blade isn't even an eastern European game, it's Turkish :v:
But Mount & Blade isn't even an eastern European game, it's Turkish :v:
Easternest of Europe.
This seems promising, the combat mechanics look pretty good.

I've found most "realistic" medieval type games to be quite boring. Just a primitive FPS with inefficient weapons.

Cleavage Simulator 1015
Cleavage Simulator 1015
If you said 1415, you would be actually be pretty close if the Hussites mention is anything to go by.
Cleavage Simulator 1015
What a harlot.
The thing is, with photos and videos that are released like this you have no clue if the game sucks or not. Like, everyone was hyped as shit for skyrim, even me, and I played it and I gradually got sadder and sadder until I realised the game was really shit. I really hope this rpg is not going to be relying on action to attract people to play but you'll actually feel like you're living in a dynamic world where your choices matter and there's a lot other very "nerd" rpg elements in it.
The combat looks like it could be pretty good.
