Player-run radio shows actually sound like a really cool idea for multiplayer "zen games" like Euro Truck Simulator (where you may want to put on a cozy podcast anyway) or heavily player-influenced worlds like EvE's nullsec (where reporting on live events could actually be a useful service for players). Sounds like there are too many setup hurdles for this to become a trend, but it's a really cool idea imo.
I recall EvE having a player run radio. A real popular one at that, with many different DJs in many time slots

Yoyoyo it's your lovely DJ here, DJ Dropper! U better watch out for my sick beats, cause they're so hard they'll break your radio and blow up your ship. Yo, no kidding on that though. Seriously. Today I'll be happy to provide you with my latest tune: Bomber's Delight! I came up with this when me and my friend decided to blow up a planet for pure lols purposes. Watch out tho! Big drop ahead. Really big one at that. It won't blow up your radio tho, so don't turn it off just yet! Aye let's do this at last. Beatbox tim-signal lost
