Hey guys. At long last I'm saving up for a new PC. My budget is in the realms of about €1200 ($1600). I've been looking up on PC building and have put together this setup, and I would love for your input. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8nc9t6 I'll be ordering the parts elsewhere and where I've looked they seem to be in a pretty similar price range. I'll be gaming and video editing with this. I'm not counting the costs of any peripherals or monitors or anything.
If I were you, I'd wait for the new x99 chipset to come out and get the 5820k for better performance at the same price. Also I believe XFX have an r9 290 for around the same price as gtx 770s which I would go for; XFX have great coolers and the 290 is more of a competitor to the gtx 780 than the 770. Also, you might want to get a higher-wattage PSU just for a bit of headroom (620-650w maybe).
I am looking at the good value R9 290s I can get and the Sapphire brand seems to be well received. But I've an option between two different types, There's the Tri-X OC and Tri-X, with the OC being slightly cheaper. What exactly is the difference? Also, when exactly is the 5820k due to come out? Unless increase in power and price are really worthwhile, I'd hope to get a processor before summer's end. And I'm not sure I'll be able to get it from the website I am purchasing from, because if I buy all the parts together (VAT-free!) The delivery charges won't be as steep.
Ok, why are you buying a workstation/gaming platform if you're just going to play games? It's logical if you're rendering, editing, modeling, etc, but if you're just gaming, go with Z97.

Why not just grab a 4790K and a Z97 motherboard instead?

Here you go, put in a 4790K and a decently priced, but still useful motherboard. Everything else is pretty solid, although if you're looking for a stronger cooler, you could always switch out the Hyper 212 EVO for a Noctua DH-14. I would recommend this. Stay away from Kingston SSD's. Plus $25 gets you double the capacity with a top notch brand. RAM is cheaper too. Also there's no sense in getting a 770 when you can get an r9 290 for $30 more. Really appreciate all your advice so far. Taking onboard what you've recommended, I put this together on pixmania-pro, where I am ordering. Total works out at €1,200 included postage so far, OS not included yet. I can only get the i7-4790 on this website, Pixmania Pro. On dabs.ie I can get the 4790k but it is a lot more expensive. http://www.dabs.ie/products/intel-core-i7-4790k-4-00ghz-8mb-s1150--devils-canyon--processor-9H0B.html If I pick that it would add another €85. Is it €85 better or will I stick with the 4790?
You need a K-series processor to be able to overclock, you can get a 4770K if the 4790K is too expensive since there's very little difference between them (the 4790K is clocked to 4GHz by default, but you can overclock the 4770K to this easily)
Yeah I can get the 4770k on pixmania, it seems like a wiser choice. Thanks.
Hello again. I'm just about ready to order, using my list above, (with a 4770k), but the one part I cannot get is the D14 CPU cooler. I can get it elsewhere for an extra 20-30 euro however. Is it worth that, or is there another cooler you guys would recommend to me? Thanks again for the help, I hope to keep you all updated on my progress!
If you don't plan on overclocking your cpu beyond around 4.4ghz the 212 evo will do fine. If you want more the phanteks ph-tc14pe is great if you can find it for less than the noctua [editline]24th July 2014[/editline] Also look for the Noctua D15. It's their newer model and is priced around the same.
I can get the 212 evo for €25, and that seems very reasonable seeming as I can change it down the line. The case can take many extra fans, I guess if I am saving the money, are there any 120mm/140mm case fans that you would recommend?

There are noctua fans that you can buy that look like ass but are the best performing fans around.
Hello again! I have exciting news, most of the parts have arrived. Except the case, PSU, and second HD, which I could be waiting a while for yet. Anyway, I'll update again when the rest of it arrives and I can begin building it. The advice I've gotten has been invaluable so far so thanks guys! [THUMB]http://i.imgur.com/zuPRxJqh.jpg[/THUMB]
The psu and second hd have arrived, but I ran into a bit of an issue with the ssd because of a lack of investigation on my part. I thought it was a 2.5' drive but it was an internal msata, and the motherboard only has an m.2 socket. Would this be better rectified with an msata to sata adapter or could I use an msata to m.2 adapter? Case will be a while yet so I have some time to sort it out.
I'd go with the msata to sata, in case you decide transport your drive in the future.
