Hello ,yes it's me again *sarcastic cheers of joy*. I was wondering if there was a way for me to stop firefox redirecting me to local versions of websites.
For example if i try and type www.lifehacker.com, firefox will automatically redirect me to www.lifehacker.com.au
How do i stop it from doing this?

I think its the site, not firefox doing that.
Yeah the site is reading your IP and redirecting you.
Go to tools>Options>Content and under the Languages bit, click on choose, and remove australia from the list. If the site still does it, it's using your IP address to determine where you live and it's not the browsers fault.

That has nothing to do with it.
It's the site doing it, not Firefox. There's nothing you can do.
Except use a proxy perhaps?
Why OP do you need to change that? Its supposed to do that.

Because I don't want to access the australian one (their articles differ). I mean, if I type in an address correctly I kind of expect to go there. Not wherever it redirects me. Anyway, I'll give a proxy a go. See if that makes a difference.

Yes and no. Firefox responds with a certain language/location to servers, and that's why this is worth a try. But most sites will get your location info from the IP you have, and you can not alter this one (except with proxies, but you don't want to use one all the time).
Ok the proxy seemed to fix it. Don't know why I never thought of that. Thankyou very much :)
