Uhh some people don't use them. I have lots of friends I talk to on steam who don't use anything else. Plus I want to be able to talk to them if they're gaming.

People want it to happen, but Valve haven't released any information on the chat protocols that they've implemented so you really can't do much with it.

I just bought it.
It doesn't allow for Steam chat or many great features as the description would imply. It doesn't even let you log in. It just lets you view Steam profiles, which you could do in Safari.
I just wasted $3 dollars.

It would require the use of your Steam account Username/Password and this'd lead into a massive amount of scamming potential that Valve'd most likely can't be bothered looking into.

Exactly right. I was honestly sooo surprised when they started to ask for usernames and passwords via the web. Infact, for a long time I was reluctant to enter my information in there.
Anyway, they've got SSL EV now, so I'm fine with it.

Wow, fuck. I thought that this thread was announcing such application. Skipping over the IDEA part, I saw "iPhone" and "Steam Messenger" in the same sentence and I immediately came.
Sadly Valve won't play nice and give other programs access to their chat, the only way to access Steam Chat right now is through steam itself. That's why IM programs such as Trillian and Pidgin can't get on the steam chat servers.
