Not good enough to get me to start playing again...
The new mob and dungeon are cool and everything, but what's the fucking point? Even with that added, searching empty waters to find the new dungeon is boring and dull. They keep adding (very slowly) unnecessary shit that doesn't help the game in any way. All the rare content they added to the surface is dumb(pyramids, temples). Walking(or swimming) for hours to find those things will never be fun or rewarding because there's no challenge or things happening along the way, you're holding fucking W until you find them. It's also called MINEcraft, but they didn't update mining literally for years. Mining is actually fun(because there's actually stuff to do and explore) and a huge part of the game, it would improve quite a bit by having more ores, mobs, and things underground. Hell, why aren't there biome-like stuff besides abandoned mineshafts? Finding those stupid looking moss dungeons is always fun. Whoever comes up with this stuff is shit at game design.

Pffffff......and quests? What about quests? you know, Adventure mode?? And NPCs that do more than stare at you and give junk for emeralds? What about a better system to use XP to have skills rather than shitty buffs on items you have to repair all the time? WHAT ABOUT CONTENT THAT MATTERS? Fucking hell, it takes months to add 1 mob and 1 random dungeon found in oceans?
The new snapshot also contains a “few months worth” of rewrites for the Minecraft engine.

Minecraft engine

engine
Wait, Minecraft has an engine? Here I thought Minecraft was still running on Chicken Scratch & Spaghetti coding. To be honest, I'd bet they would save a lot of time and work if they just remade the game from scratch, taking into account the shit they learned and be able to include an functional plugin/modding system at the same time. Of course a little too late for that now I guess.
did you just quote "rewriting the minecraft engine" and then complain that they weren't rewriting the minecraft engine they've been fixing notch's shitty coding for months now iirc
More like over a year now at least
So basically they aren't adding really anything [editline]19th June 2014[/editline] again
So basically they aren't adding really anything [editline]19th June 2014[/editline] again
A whole new boss and working sponges aren't anything new?
We're adding content to the game
"Ugh, fuck you guys, I don't like this, this game is shit, this is do dumb, something else would have worked better"
We're forgoing content updates in order to focus on extensive bugfixing
"Ugh, as fucking usual, yet another contentless update, this game is so boring" I haven't done anything Minecraft-related in almost a year, and yet I come back and not one fucking thing has changed about the way you guys complain about it.
did you just quote "rewriting the minecraft engine" and then complain that they weren't rewriting the minecraft engine they've been fixing notch's shitty coding for months now iirc
I said from scratch as in starting over. Of course that really can't be done anymore considering how long the game has been in development. Also its been at least a year plus of fixing the coding/bugs.

So yeah, the game is boring. ok, notch wanted it to be a survival horror and it is... but its happy go lucky enchantment fantasy too? XP really doesn't seem to have that much of a huge use outside of that. Then there are potions. There are elements to a great RPG but nothing that actually is RPG about it. And a boss is great, but there is no drive for me while playing it outside of hunting and gathering and gaining property mass. The "Ending" you get with the dragon is quite frankly a huge joke unless they changed that and there isn't really any obligation to even bother with a boss. One thing that I would like to see is more resource types (Steel, bronze, etc), they're doing more mobs so I can't say that, better temples and shit to explore. The temples are buried deep enough they’ll likely only be accessible with recource to a Potion of Water Breathing, or via the new Death Strider boot enchantment which makes travel faster underwater. They’re built from a new block type, prismarine, and lit dimly by sea lanterns. Jeb recommends diamond armour if you intend to face the waterborne creatures within - but intrepid (and wet) adventurers have discovered gold blocks as their reward at the core of the temple. yeah cool but by the time I have diamond armor that will be a pretty shitty reward. (I basically have to grind a huge amount to get the recommended gear to begin with which is tiers ahead of the reward.) Why not something like terraria has where I get a unique weapon? And resources /along/ the way. In this game you end up grinding far more than you'll ever be playing. And don't even get me started at how shitty the combat is. In fact, The biggest issue is they don't have unique weapons outside of enchantments. Nothing with its own looks and hitrate and damage. You can't find short swords or anything.... Just swords. And no, "just use mods", that's totally secondary when looking at a game. Yeah yeah its randomly generated and 3D, but how does that not stop us from having rewards outside of gathering resources (which is what we already do) Edited: In the end 90% of the game is going out and collecting shit and 10% other shit. Exploration is an absolute blast and gathering is still pretty great, as you get to see your build skills for what they really are... but what's my reward? It's even worse when I could just use creative mode to build, making the joy of building slightly stale.
Yeah, I know, it's been a long-standing problem, and one that hasn't been helped by how Notch handed off development to Jeb who then placed most development responsibility on Dinnerbone. You certainly need end-game gear to get at these water dungeons, much like you needed end-game gear to get at the Wither, but it's all disorganized, like they're side-quests. Going to the End, beating the Wither, doing this new sea-thing, there's no sense of order to them. Anyway, my real complaint was that no matter what the developers try to do, no matter if it's a step in the right direction or wrong direction or any direction, people complain ceaselessly about it.
If they wanted to make this game fun they would have done the things we actually wanted like sea mobs and birds and other stuff to flesh out the world, but instead they have to waste their time with shit like The End and the fucking Nether which had no purpose for the longest time [editline]22nd June 2014[/editline] I will never touch this game again, probably. They ruined it so badly

They ruined it so badly
They ruined it by creating completely optional content. Also the Nether has received a content update and is legitimately fun to adventure to for me. The game has been 'complete' for a long time. It's not perfect, but it's fun to pick up for time to time, and you didn't pay any large amount of money for you.
https://twitter.com/_grum/status/479678642990379008 Yep they are just lazy bastards not at all working towards the api.
Everyone is complaining because the game isn't fun at all without an absolutely ridiculous amount of mods While they're pushing out updates, the only visible things are a few features that could've been done in 10 minutes. Players dont see internal changes Specially as most of the content is utterly lacking or dysfunctional and has received no updates since it was added
A whole new boss and working sponges aren't anything new?
No because then I wouldn't be able to bitch about it.
Then why the hell did you buy it?
because when it was an alpha/beta it looked like it had a lot of potential.
People getting mad that the updates aren't significant enough or it's "not what the community wanted", yet people are still buying it, and people are still having fun in it. It's not always easy to improve or expand a game, especially one like Minecraft. I almost don't want Minecraft to change too much, it's a fun game to play on occasion, I admit I get sick of it from time to time. But then I just go away and play something else.
because when it was an alpha/beta it looked like it had a lot of potential.
It still does, and i would say it even has more potential now than it did then, the difference is that you are not going to get that potential put to use by mojang. They have spent much of the last year adding feature that cater to those who use minecraft as a tool rather than a game. They have tried to flesh out some of the more basic fetures that hadn't been touched since threy were introduced. And when it comes down to it they have so many groups to cater to that they are bound to anger one of them. For example they changed some of the balance of the potions system, which annoyed a population of people that revolved arround potion heavy pvp. I didn't even know that was a thing until they started complaining about it. So how are you supposed to please everyone? Essentialy: They do what they want to do because that all they can do
Anyway, my real complaint was that no matter what the developers try to do, no matter if it's a step in the right direction or wrong direction or any direction, people complain ceaselessly about it.
they're probably bitching because they got bored when it was beta and they never played it again or they simply don't see the new content as content that brings any real "Content" whatever the case, whether justified or not, it doesn't matter how much Mojong slaves. There will ALWAYS be whiners. You just have to kinda... back the hell away and give them this look of "Dude you're crazy" once you realizing they're complaining because they can
A whole new boss and working sponges aren't anything new?
Ask yourself: how long has it taken them to make sponges work and who really asked for a new boss instead of working netcode? I tried to play some LAN Minecraft two days ago and regardless of my friend having a perfect ping (as according to the bars or whatever because they for some reason decided it was a fucking bad idea to make it a number) he was lagging like a motherfucker and had trouble killing zombies. Modding API and let that community revert their balances in a timely bug-free manor.

Wow, another update with no gameplay improvements. More dull exploration. Hooray...
Hey, you know what they could do?
