A good Samaritan was fatally shot Friday by the man he was trying to help in the Bandys community of Catawba County, Sheriff Coy Reid said. The car driven by the shooter, Reid said, had slid off icy Mathis Church Road and was stuck, when a passing car with two or three men stopped to help about 5 p.m. Friday. The shooter became belligerent toward the men. “They thought he was drunk and said ‘let’s just call the law and let them deal with it,’ ” Reid said. As they walked to their car, the shooter pulled out an automatic pistol and started firing. One of the men fell and the shooter walked to him and shot him “numerous times,” the sheriff said. The shooter returned to his car as deputies arrived. They shouted for him to get out. When he didn’t, they called in a SWAT team. The team pulled their armored vehicle up to the shooter’s car and saw that he was passed out, Reid said. They physically removed the suspect and arrested him on murder charges. Reid didn’t release any names.
http://www.newsobserver.com/news/local/article56228700.html
Heard about this a few minutes ago. Absolutely crazy. There's no rational explanation for this.
Jesus christ that's horrifying
Let that fuck rot in a dungeon.
He had to be on something, maybe he was drunk. Also I wonder if he really had a full auto pistol or if they just don't know what they're talking about.
Nobody normal does this, he was either high or drunk.
He fucking executed him, what the hell.
Here's the scumbag Marvin Jacob Lee, 27: I wonder what forums he posted on about Obummer and Hitlery Clinton trying to take his guns away.
He had to be on something, maybe he was drunk. Also I wonder if he really had a full auto pistol or if they just don't know what they're talking about.
Normally automatic pistol is just used as a term to differentiate between a revolver or other handgun that isn't a typical semiautomatic.
I wonder what forums he posted on about Obummer and Hitlery Clinton trying to take his guns away.
you are the same type of liberal who bitches about conservatives pushing an agenda at inappropriate times when they point out gun bans didn't stop school shootings i guess what i'm trying to say is shut up

Im fairly certain automatic pistols are illegal in the US as well
Man, this whole situation is fucked up. That poor guy was just trying to help. And imagine getting black-out drunk then waking up in jail cell and being told you murdered somebody who was trying to help you. Shit, dude.
Im fairly certain automatic pistols are illegal in the US as well
true automatic pistols (machine pistols) are rare, but in handgun terms "automatic" (as in self loading) means semi-automatic in almost every case
I swear all you Americans got your priorities messed up. If you'd stop to realize things then you'd see that the only reason guns are being waved about at everyone else is because everyone's scared of the others waving guns, so stop waving guns around already and store them concealed like a normal person.
He had to be on something, maybe he was drunk. Also I wonder if he really had a full auto pistol or if they just don't know what they're talking about.
Any pistol that's not a revolver, but does self-reload after each shot, is for some bizarre reason considered an automatic, even though semi-automatic is the more accurate term that's applied to rifles that do the same thing. Fully automatic describes pistols that will fire the next round without the shooter releasing the trigger.

im absolutely shocked that people don't know what 'automatic pistol' means [editline]23rd January 2016[/editline]
I swear all you Americans got your priorities messed up.
Also I wonder if he really had a full auto pistol or if they just don't know what they're talking about.
It wasn't stated to be full auto which is the rapid automatic fire you're thining of, pretty much any modern pistol are automatic because you do not have to cock them after every shot. Think like the tranqualizer pistols in MGS series, they are not automatic.

Sounds like some Fargo shit.
can we get the dumb rating back for SH please
he's right though
he's right though
not really
Can mentioning gun control or gun debates outside of gun control news be banable please
This isn't about gun control legislation but I'm having a hard time finding a reason why mentioning gun control should be outright banned in this thread. The man used a gun in a crime and anti-gun advocates constantly use events like this to push their side of the argument so why should it not be used in this specific case? And this is coming from a pro-gun guy.
Because I'm tired of reading threads where if a gun is anywhere mentioned in the article or hell even in a post people just shit themselves over it.
Then don't read threads with literally in the title "man shot"?
This isn't about gun control legislation but I'm having a hard time finding a reason why mentioning gun control should be outright banned in this thread. The man used a gun in a crime and anti-gun advocates constantly use events like this to push their side of the argument so why should it not be used in this specific case? And this is coming from a pro-gun guy.
It's not the debate that should be banned, just people who take it too far and escalate instead of de-escalate. I'd rather have the people change instead of creating a rule against gun debates. That's technically a reality - someone could just call in a moderator and report. This story is kind of an example of why I don't think gun control is the ticket. There's everything going wrong around the gun, and people think that taking the gun away is going to solve the problem when in reality this guy was fucked up. That can lead into other problems like alcoholism, drugs, and mental health. No one gives a shit about mental health. I'm for gun control because, what the hey? But to go to the max with gun control and to ignore the other problems? Nope! I think that gun control laws should reward people who are trained, who are well with mental health, and punish people with absolute inconvenience if not rejection when they aren't. I have friends that shoot the big guns and I don't have a problem with them because they're level headed and give a shit. I love 'em. They shouldn't be at the suffering end of everything. And tightening up the laws in a way that affects them is not only really annoying but doesn't answer the bigger problem with mental health, gangs, etc. I feel like people go to gun control because it's more convenient and more comforting than dealing with the real issues.
Imagine trying to put yourself an a pedestal on the internet

im absolutely shocked that people don't know what 'automatic pistol' means [editline]23rd January 2016[/editline] Yea thanks I was just about to go shoot up a supermarket till I saw this post, thank God you were here to stop my barbaric American instincts before it was too late!
This is an example of a post that doesn't help If it looks like I'm on a high horse, it's not that I actually think I'm better than everyone else, it's because I'd actually like to talk about this stuff without people hammering each other like this. It can't be taken seriously and I want to. Instead it's a pissing contest in which you are playing a great part in being condescending. The other problem is this stuff carries over into real life. All my liberal friends cannot stand my conservative friends, who cannot stand my liberal friends. Everyone has to be something. Gun control advocates think of everyone else as savages, and people who aren't gun control advocates have an opportunity to say, "Hey man, I understand your concern but there's a different way" or "Hey man, here's the reality with guns" or something, but all anyone is good at is distancing. And as someone that can't fit in either side, it just makes me not want to say anything at all and stagnates stuff, and it's really not a good mindset to have anyway. That stuff has to bleed into other arguments - it can't be something that's just reserved to gun control. But never mind me! Instead of considering what I have to say, you can turn it into another superiority game and keep contributing to the same problem when in reality I'm trying to advocate for a conversation in which people can be wrong and teach each other without resorting to name-calling.
