I just recently bought a pre-built Asus computer from Best Buy for a pretty good deal and installed a new power supply and a Nvidia 8800 GTS. My specs are 6Gigs o' RAM Quad core Intel(R) core i5 CPU 650 @ 3.20GHz This problem with a blue screen sometimes happens frequently or not at all in a given day. Usually it comes up while I'm playing a game on steam ex. Fallout 3, Oblivion, Half-Life 2, GTA4. A lot of the times when I play a game like GTA San Andreas or Fallout 3 it won't blue screen my screen will flicker Black and return to normal sometimes or just say 'Has stopped working' It'll sometimes happen on the internet or my pc will freeze up when im on itunes or just looking at documents. I've been going back and forth to Best Buy trying to figure out the problem but they don't know what's wrong. When the blue screen does pop up I have to restart my computer and it says BAD_POOL_HEADER and A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your pc. If I didn't give enough information please tell me to provide more. Thanks for the help :)
About the BAD_POOL_HEADER BsoD, I found this on another forum:
The BAD_POOL_HEADER blue screen can occur when Windows 7 fails to allocate memory correctly when a pool header is corrupt. As with most errors, there are many possible causes - so you will need to perform some diagnostics to narrow down the problem. Common causes of this error are: Bugs in system drivers Anti-virus issue The first step in troubleshooting should be to update all of your system drivers, especially those used for your chipset and SATA controllers (as these are often the most frequent culprits). You should also make sure that your system is fully updated with the latest service packs (via Windows Update).
