Last night, my room-mate left his laptop on my dresser (it was closed btw), and went to go do something. My cat ran across the dresser, the laptop fell, and it was damaged. The input for the battery charger, along with the head of the charger, was jammed into the body of the laptop. He managed to work the charger out of the body, the laptop still holds charge, but the body is damaged a bit. However, the main issue is that his display isn't working properly anymore. Whenever he boots up his laptop, the screen will flicker for a brief moment, then go black entirely. After he logs in, he holds down the windows key, and the laptop will continue to flicker, displaying the desktop for half a second, before it flickers off again.
He is using a Lenovo Ideapad N586, and I think he might've damaged the processor. The screen itself shows no cosmetic damage, though, it is possible he damaged a display connector within the laptop. Any ideas as to what the issue might me? I may post pics of the body, and a small video later on showing the issue.
Flickering usually means damaged or loose components. Seeing its a hardware problem you'll have to open the thing up to get a better idea of damage. Laptop screens are connected to their mobos with a paper thin, very delicate cable so yeah, that might be the cause.
