Hello FP my uncle needs a computer powerful enough to run Forex Robot for Exchange off Vaults(dont' got a correct translation)24/7 with no exceptions. Since I'm not good when it comes to building PC for this kind of job I decided to ask FP. I was thinking along the lines of a Intel core i7/Phenom 6. But what do you guys think? The country is Slovenia and the budget is 1400€(Euros) Prefer'd Sities http://www.agt.si/ http://www.mimovrste.com/katalog/20/racunalnistvo Feel free to edit my build! As of now the build is in post #12!
Change drive to a Samsung Spinpoint F3 if you can.
get a UPS
Cool it well, get a UPS, and don't run Windows.
where uptime is a concern you really want to put your money towards the motherboard and PSU, btw.

You would probably want to go with a server build
You would probably want to go with a server build
I was thinking about this as well but I'm not sure if I can get a decent server for 1400€ [editline]23rd November 2010[/editline]
where uptime is a concern you really want to put your money towards the motherboard and PSU, btw.
I'l fix that in a minute thanks for pointing it out!
Change drive to a Samsung Spinpoint F3 if you can.
Normally i'd agree, but Western Digital drives have a longer live span, they are tested to last 24/7.

An SSD will make it last.

Do you have any other recommendations? [editline]26th November 2010[/editline]
An SSD will make it last.
I think SSD drives aren't worth it yet, maybe in a year or two the price/storage/performance ratio will get better.
Not sure but I guess Forex robot doesn't require that much of power
Not sure but I guess Forex robot doesn't require that much of power
My uncle said he needs a powerful computer to run it and he is using Forex Robot for well over a year now so I trust him on that. But if any of you guys wan't to prove me wrong I will happily change my opinion
I don't think "overclock" goes well with "24/7/365"
True, but even without overclocking it's still an insanely well valued processor.
