Holy. Shit.
This is HUGE.
About time
Looks like the new allegations of his right hand man being involved in corruption was the final straw
This is the fastest backpedal I think I've ever seen in my life
So are we getting another couple of hours of voting this week?
I still can't believe it took this long for them to get to the corruption in FIFA
The rotten head of an elder dragon has finally been severed.
Former President Step Ladder.
It probably was a huge mistake on their part to launder American money, it's outside their sphere of influence
thanks US boo boo, you can call football "Soccer" all you want
Fuck yes, now there is hope for football
What a cunt. He did this on purpose. Now he can get his successor to be voted in at the special congress.
Fifa is a cancer that's been pulling the sport i love through the mud for as long as i can remember and this tosser has been at the head of it all that time. I'm so fucking pleased about this i can't put it into words. I just hope something good can be done with this.
Blatter stepping down?
Well, that's a tale for my grandsons then.
Now switch the winning country of the 2022 world cup to America instead of Qatar

Video of his speech:

Finally. Jeez. Couldn't believe he was voted in again.
Came out of my last uni exam to find Fallout 4 confirmed, then Sepp Blatter resigns

He said something about no longer having support of the organization to continue, considering that a lot of important people were arrested for corruption allegations fits too perfectly.

It comes across more as a coward backing down and getting ready to run and hide than anything else in my eyes.

True, he might not even be related to the scandal but he's somewhat afraid of continuing knowing he failed to maintain a trustworthy organization
Now can the FBI please send out an arrest warrant for him as well

Or if not, Interpol

Hah. I disagree. I think it should go to some country that can handle it and will appreciate it. The US getting it would cement the suspicions of America just trying to steal the glory from Qatar. Give it to Germany or Portugal or somewhere.
Hell. You could make a case for creating a network of inter-regional sites as dedicated World Cup sites instead of shifting it around randomly. Neutral zones of investment.

It was supposed to win the 2022 world cup, then Qatar got it.
And Football is slowly going big in America, it would had pushed America up had it gone through.

Now let's whitewash this sport together.
Qatar sounds like the worst place in the world to play soccer other than Antartica, or the surface of the sun.
Qatar could only have gotten that with some underhanded tactics I'm sure.
He was either incredibly naieve and all this corruption happened under his nose and he really did have no idea, in which case was clearly not fit for purpose.
or, and imo the most likely answer.
He's been in on the whole scam (or turning a blind eye) the entire time and he's a very very clever man pretending to be a complete moron.
What i hope is the answer, he's being implicated by those officials that have been nicked and they've got the evidence to prove his guilt.
He was so bloody confident and arrogant (last week after he'd won especially) but now he gives a pathetically short speech saying he's fucking off. They have to have something on him and he's got wind of it.

Yes, but the US being involved in the proceedings of the case means we should bow out if there were to be any reevaluation.
Unless I'm just horribly misinformed on how this is going down. I'm just big in maintaining impartiality when Russia and Qatar are accusing us of just being envious dickbags.
Alright, let's wrap up here and hit the IOC next.
Let's just switch 2022 from Qatar to ANYWHERE FUCKING ELSE.
1,200 people have already died in the construction of the stadium. I don't care where you put it, just not Qatar! Holy shit, FIFA should be required to pay reparations. This shit is practically a war crime.
