South Korea's navy has fired warning shots towards North Korea after shells from the North fell near their tense maritime border, South Korean defence officials say. They say three artillery shells landed off the South's Yeonpyeong island in the Yellow Sea.
It is not clear on which side of the border they fell.
Last November the North fired shells at Yeonpyeong, killing four, in one of the worst clashes since the Korean War.
Pyongyang said at the time that it had been provoked by military exercises being held by the South close to the island.
The incident triggered outrage in South Korea, which increased troop numbers on Yeonpyeong and said it would respond more forcefully in the future.
The crisis came months after the sinking of a South Korean warship, the Cheonan, widely blamed on North Korea.
The two countries technically remain at war following the 1950-53 Korean War.

What happened to the treaty a few weeks back?
Uhh wasn't that a demand by Best Korea and Worst Korea just ignored it? I'm probably wrong, my memory has been really crap lately.
Fucking hell north korea, stop fucking dick-waving.
Such is life in korea
Just more dick waving?
The fire's always hotter on the other side of the fence.
Remember when the exactly same thing happened in December and everyone flipped shit and thought it was WW3 in the making?
That wasn't the "exact same thing" at all, people died and the island had to be evacuated
This is just some random shelling into the sea
"Ladies, ladies, you're both pretty. Now stop fighting."
Just fucking duke it out.
Just fucking duke it out.
They're too wussy for that.
Wasn't Kim calling for an official end to the war a few months ago?
Wasn't Kim calling for an official end to the war a few months ago?
Kim's a nutjob.
They're too wussy for that.
I know each probably has artillery, aircraft, and etc that could obliterate the other, but the South has the backing of the US, Japan, and basically all of our allies. Even the Chinese are slowly siding with the South considering that Kim is a fascist fuck.

My only point was that they did have aircraft, not the fact that they probably can't fly them.
My only point was that they did have aircraft, not the fact that they probably can't fly them.
So what's the point, they have shitty planes?
How is this news
Just because violent tension is occurring and not involving Israel doesn't make it not newsworthy.
So what's the point, they have shitty planes?
North Korea technology is like the United States' technology...
...in 1960.
North Korea technology is Soviet technology...
Remember when the exactly same thing happened in December and everyone flipped shit and thought it was WW3 in the making?
Realistically small stupid shit like this could snowball into an actual war if North and South Korea aren't careful. So it is pretty significant.
North Korea will be absolutely obliterated if they ever started the Korean war up again... cause South Korea's allies aren't gonna take this sitting down. Maybe North Korea's army is a little well trained, but they'd still lose.

Their ground forces are shit too, if any army marches on its stomach their army doesn't.
