Looks like she ran away rather than foul play or suicide, considering 4 days after she disappeared she put an instagram picture up of her in Central Park (Which is where they got the central park on Friday from I assume)
Considering her IG subtitle is "my vagabondage shall begin soon thereafter college.", looks like she decided to start early. The parents must be aware of this since in the news article the main thing they are concerned about is her not having shelter.
