Accoring to the new SH rules, we aren't allowed to paste the article, so here's a link.

But but We are too lazy to click the link...
Would siri really matter now?
I mean don't we have google now in a sense..
Well, that's Siriously fucked up.
Shame the iphone is over-rated garbage.
I think Garry meant don't post the ENTIRE article, but snippets of it so that we get the general idea of the article instead of having to find the idea in a sea of text

Not really. I know we can all agree on our opinion of apple's business practices but I've had an iphone for over a year and a half and I can safely say it's a damn good phone. I've never had any major issues with it and it does everything I want it to.
Except be a time machine. God I wish apple would make a time machine

that backup system on their computers doesn't count

i <3 my iphone

I upgraded from a Galaxy Nexus to an iPhone 5, best technology decision I have ever made.
People like iOS and iOS devices, heck Gabe Newell uses an iPad, is he some technology illiterate or whatever the usual accusation is?
I'd love an iPhone but I can't justify the price tag for the use i'd get out of it.
You are, in my opinion, very stupid to say that Apple products are bad. They are great devices but I, yet again personally, dislike Apple as a company.
Google Now does the job just fine though. Minus the ability to ask it strange questions. If I ask who the king of Sweden is it brings a picture of him and says with a female voice "The King of Sweden is Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden" along with some info from wikipedia. Quite neat and does the job.
Still, wouldn't surprise me if things like Siri and Google Now will keep improving over the years. Eventually resulting in some fancy AI.

Now nobody is going to read the articles.
google now is faster to use anyways

I don't know anybody who genuinely uses Siri apart from to ask it silly questions
Odd isn't it, a company that made their millions by writing a fucking amazing search program is good at writing a voice search program...
are you on an anti android/google vendetta or something
every post you've made in this thread has been putting down google
i just wanna be able to group text with iphone people without using 3rd party apps :(
Google Now is also more accurate.
I just find it hilarious that they have literally no control over their own operating system because they handed it out with absolutely no restrictions and lo and behold every chinky OEM took a giant stinking dump on it.
so that's a yes?

You've made it very clear you hate Android, now could you please stop shitting up the thread

Most FP'ers will wave this off by saying "but there are good ones, you just gotta know!" totally oblivious to the concept of protecting the value of your intellectual property. Google doesn't treat their OS with any class, they treat android like some dying animal that bit off their arm or something.
It's like they don't care if Android gets viewed as a McDonalds OS or something

That's what you get with "open-source"

That's like saying Canonical doesn't care about Ubuntu because Ubuntu Christian Edition exists.

it doesn't ship with PC's
Android ships with phones that shouldn't exist
it doesn't ship with PC's

But you can't "build" phones or tablets like PC's
So Siri was originally going to be a Hal-like application with an actual sense of humor?
Dammit Apple.
The only reason this hasn't happened with Linux is because the PC is an open platform unlike embedded devices (phones/tablets) and because nobody actually gives a fuck about Linux on the desktop.
The moment Linux gains any kind of popularity with consumers (LOL, perhaps when hell freezes over) every OEM will shit their products up with so much crap software to "differentiate" themselves that yet again Apple devices will be considered premium and everything else will be the cheap and disposable plasticy trash.
So basically a race to the bottom like what happened in the laptop and netbook world?
google now is faster to use anyways
The iPad takes really long to know what you want, I asked Now for the weather and in like a quarter of a second from me asking that it just came up with the result, siri takes 2 seconds less/more depending on network connection (guess now could be the same)
not a big wait for some, but definitely is noticable
I really like my iPhone but I've honestly never even used Siri except to say stupid stuff.
Entertainment is probably the most useful thing about that feature honestly.
Google Now is also more accurate.

Is Siri really that awful? I mean, does it actually latch on to things like "picture of a stallion" and ask you about them for hours, even after you've moved on, or was that a joke?
So Siri was originally going to be a Hal-like application with an actual sense of humor?

It sort of has a sense of humor now, if you count all the random chat responses it has. I doubt they actually had an AI that understood humor (since that would be amazing on its own), but just more responses to random things, or less serious responses to normal queries, which probably should've been cut.
I don't know anybody who genuinely uses Siri apart from to ask it silly questions
I can't speak for Siri but I use Google Now for when I need something looked up and I'm too drunk to type it.
