Can't wait to play this, the first was one of my favorites.
Those automatons look so fucking cool I can't stand it
Will buy day one and scream HERMITZU PUH-POH whenever I use the new vine ability
I'm kinda hoping they don't punish the player for going lethal this time. It sucked they give you all these cool powers and gadgets and pretty fun sword combat but if you kill people you're given a bad ending.
Always felt like I got mixed signals there
I just hope for cool nonlethal powers this time. And a nonlethal melee weapon. Choking everyone out just isn't as satisfying as stabbing them, but if I can beat people down that'll be fun.
I don't get why people are doubting this. Everything in the trailer is pretty believable. One power's just a fancy grappling hook, nothing out of the ordinary. She can stop time, same as in the first game. It showed off bombs, grenades, standard fare. And the smoke monster thing, while I don't know what exactly it'll be like, is certainly possible.
Hell go watch the Dishonored 1 CG trailer, and you could do pretty much everything from that in the game too.
i adore the new location this game is taking and the robot automaton designs, they're giving me hardcore thief 2 vibes

its not really that you got the bad ending. you were shaping the empire, and by killing everyone, you shaped it through violence, and taught emily that violence is the answer. obviously, the outcome is going to be darker that way.
by going non-lethal, you teach emily that the empire can be lead via peaceful means, and thus, the outcome wont be so dark. the game isnt punishing you, its showing you the consequences of your actions.
tho its def more boring to just choke everyone and blink their bodies to a roof. the combat in that game is so much fun compared to choking everyone you see.
I quite enjoy the type of game that lets you pick from multiple approaches to a situation. Lethal, non-lethal, stealthy, guns-a-blazin' etc. Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Dishonored come to mind so I'm quite looking forward to Dishonored 2 tbh

I hope they don't, i liked the double ending, and i liked that it reflected more then just "oh do you save the evil boss or do you kill him" kinda moment.
The "bad" ending isn't a wrong ending, its just the grim ending, and its a great ending.
Shall we gather for whiskey and cigars tonight?

indeed, i believe so
One thing i'd want: Just one ending. I'd like to not be punished for having fun in the game.

you werent being punished for having fun. you were experiencing consequences to your actions. if you dont like seeing bad things happen, maybe you shouldnt have been a mass murdering lunatic lol
The fact that everybody feels being punished, because of story and world building consequences to your actions, really just shows how good of game this is if anything.

I would buy this if your non-lethal abilities weren't ludicrously limited compared to your lethal ones
You're basically cutting yourself out of 3 quarters of your abilities and items by going non-lethal

Or maybe it's just poorly written and you shouldn't be forced to restrict yourself from using the majority of the items in the game to get an ending that isn't shit

I don't need shit from you.
I really loved having those lines coincide.

Its you who restricts yourself, you need to go out of your way to kill people to get a medium or high chaos ending.
You get a Low chaos rating as long as you kill less then 50% of the NPCs but choose the low chaos way to resolve your mission.
You really don't need to not kill anyone for your whole playthrough and ignore all your weapons.
Besides that the High Chaos ending mission is amazing.
I thought the "good" ending was too fairy tale and the "bad" ending was more reasonable.

You can't just give the best first impressions ever with a combat tutorial only to tell the player that you can't do that after your first taste of combat.

except you can experience the combat if you want? youll just also have to deal with the fallout of having killed however many people you fought. i dont see what the problem here is. why do you expect a happy ending when youre killing all these people?
The problem is NOT that killing people gives you a bad ending and that the game has consequences for killing people, it's that an option for a good ending exists and doing that option is terribly boring.

I find having to sneak through and incapacitate people far more fun than mindlessly going through and killing enemies.

Maybe they could've given you a billy club instead of a sword?

Basically this. It's literally the Metal Gear Solid 4 case except extended to story; the game gives you a lot of toys and powers to utilize, but if you want to not be a horrible excuse for a human being you're limited to much more sparse use of them or even disallowed altogether. And the non-lethal options in comparison are extremely limited.
People think 'well yeah consequences to actions gotta work for that good ending,' but the difference with grabbing someone from behind to choke them out time and time and time again isn't 'more difficult' - it's more obnoxious and contextually limited. Meanwhile the game offers like ten different ways to kill a guard but you can't use them because you should play non-lethally. At least in a game like, say, Iji, playing non-lethally there is literally just avoiding the enemies in direct combat and exploiting game mechanics like taking a rocket to the face to get launched elsewhere (or have the enemies kill themselves for you). It changes up the gameplay but in a way that radically changes how you approach situations. Same with Deus Ex, or arguably even Thief, both of which encourage avoiding encounters and Thief even more so obviously.

To be fair you can also use possession and darts. Plus I'd argue it definitely can be more difficult on hard.
