[del]Look in the sticky first please.[/del] nevermind it's gone for now
BY COMMING HERE YOU ARE ACCEPTING THAT YOU WILL GET
-Constructive Criticism that you probably wont listen to anyways, but should if you know what's good for you.
-Better Ideas from other people that you probably don't want to admit are better.
-Most likely flamed by [del]BlueSaint[/del] w0w00t at some point for calling something the wrong name or something. ( [del]Clip =/= Magazine[/del] Truspec =/= Propper )
-The website you are shopping at is probably shitty. (see below for good sites)
SOME GOOD WEBSITES

Clothing/Gear/Camo
http://www.hassayampasurplus.com - Based in the US of A, fantastic costumer service, and great obscure camos.
www.ebairsoft.com - Based in asia, has some cheap offbeat camo.
www.flecktarn.co.uk - You'd never guess what they sell. Great selection, good service by phone.
www.polimil.co.uk - Have a browse, they have great service and a large selection of useful bits and bobs.
www.opsgear.com - This site is the place to get gear for your airsoft needs. They also have a small selection of guns but this site is dedicated to gear.
www.bdu.com - American site primarily for buying combats.
www.soviet-propaganda.com/ - Good customer support, based in Russia.
www.skippersmilitarysupply.com/ - US based, Russian gear.
www.redforces.com/ - Soviet/modern gear.
Airsoft Stores
UK
www.fire-support.co.uk - Reasonable pricing (for the UK anyway), good service.
www.airsoftscotland.co.uk - Complete rip-off, although they get good deals on Pyros.
USA
www.airsoftextreme.com - Easy to navigate and has some of the best guns in stock.
www.airsplat.com - I'm joking, seriously. Do not buy from here.
www.airsoftgi.com - AirsoftGI was basically the god of Airsoft stores. They've been slipping behind, but still maintain a decent selection and costumer service.
www.evike.com - Not reliable on shipping dates, but they have a large selection.
Hong Kong/China Dealers
www.wgcshop.com - Okay prices, Seem to have to get quotes on the price before you actually buy.
www.rsov.com - Brilliant service, postage is steep unless you buy in bulk, in which case it's the cheapest site around.
www.redwolfairsoft.com - Another Chinese retailer, good prices, some rare pieces.
www.ebaybanned.com - Brilliant prices, good service and delivery. The horror stories are from people who didn't read the on-screen instructions when buying.
Canadian Dealers
VelocityArms.ca - No opinion, Seems to carry a LOT of things, almost looks like a canadian AGI.
CapitalAirsoft.ca - No opinion, A hodgepodge of high-range and low range AEGs, doesn't have many in stock at a time.
BuyAirsoft.ca - No opinion, Hard to navigate, OK selection.
Mach1Airsoft.com - No opinion, A hodgepodge of high to mid-range AEGs, terrible site design and not many parts to buy.
READ THIS IF YOU ARE FROM THE UK AND WANT TO START AIRSOFTING, THERE ARE LAWS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT!
Right my specialist area :P (i guess being a brit is handy) UKARA is basically a license that restricts RIF's (Realistic Imitation Firearms) to comply with the VCRA (a really big law about weapons)you have to be UKARA registered to purchase a RIF however this can be avoided because you can get your airsoft weapon in Two-Tone which is painting half the weapon in a bright colour (mostly bright green, blue or blaze orange) this means you can purchase the weapon without having the UKARA license but you still have to be over 18 to purchase them. you can get UKARA registered from any of the skirmish sites you go to aslong as your over 18 and have played there for atleast 3 times in two months.

Some good websites to purchase Two-Tone weapons from are:
www.zerooneairsoft.co.uk - will spray paint any weapon two tone for FREE
www.actionhobbies.co.uk - has a selection of specially made two tone weapons
www.airsoftworld.co.uk - same as above and apparently two tone any weapon other than GBB for 20 quid
www.surplusstore.co.uk - has a wide selection of Two-Tone weapons and various other bits and bobs
www.fire-support.co.uk - has a small selection of non-UKARA (another term for Two-Tone) which apparently will also two tone any weapon for 15 quid if asked by email

Non-UKARA weapons are either Two-Tone weapons as stated above or even with a clear plastic body but i highly recommend getting the Two-Tone weapons since I have had really bad experiences with clear plastic weapons as they almost always break very quickly (and you can get metal two tones) also, dont quote me on this because theres apparently a crack-down on this at the moment here in the North-East but you can spray your Two-Tone weapon back to black after you have bought it because the police cant really do anything after it has been purchased... just dont be stupid and point it at them or there will be loads of armed police showing up.

Starter guns here!

Recommended starter guns:
AEG's:
AEG's are the best guns to start off with in most cases. Standard workhorses that can do any job well and they come in zillions of different models, although quality starter guns are a bit more limited.
AR's (M4's/M16's/etc.)
G&G Combat Machine series, preferably without blowback: Solid internals, and very good plastic externals, these guys do a great job and are THE BEST budget AR pattern rifle you can find. Don't even consider another kind of AR because we have been through them and they just do not compare. Also, if you can't find a model without blowback, don't be too worried or anything, not too big of a deal.
G36
JG/Echo 1 G36: While they're now a bit of a challenge to find in America because of H&K doing some copyright crap, if you can find them they're cheap and great. Unimpressive externals, but both the inside and outside are built like a tank.
MP5
Galaxy MP5K/PDW: Also a challenge to find stateside, but by far my favorite budget gun. Some simple work to your hopup can have you with longer range than almost anything else on the field, and the internals are extremely durable. Externals are very meh, but considering this is also the cheapest gun on the list, you should be able to afford to fix anything that breaks. I've owned 3 of them for a reason.
AK's
CYMA and D-BOYS: (Specifics required) While some of the earlier models (lower model numbers like the CM028) are junk, their modern efforts are massively improved and just as good as anything you're going to find on a budget. They're also the only budget gun on the list with lots of metal and/or wood so they are the most likely to look and feel good, if you like AK's. D-BOYS also has a series of steel external models, but they're more expensive, and US retailers seem to have a bad habit of sending out the regular kind when you order them. Only real negative with these guns is that the default spring in them often has them shooting 450-500fps, which is too hot for just about any field, as well as too strong for your internals to handle for too long. Downgrade the spring to one that fits your internals, and you'll be in great shape.
Shotguns:
Really there's only one kind worth mentioning, but they're great. Trishot shotguns are made by a vast number of companies, but are all pretty much identical besides the superior (and 3x priced) Tokyo Marui's. These guns are super durable, and they're pretty fantastic for short to midranged play. They are also the cheapest option on the list and require no upgrades or batteries of any kind to use.
Pistols:
You should NOT buy a pistol for your starting gun. Between limited magazine size, expensive spare magazines, limited range, and lower durability compared to the other options, they just should not be used without prior airsoft experience. Also, in case you're really new, all pistols mentioned here are gas powered, as springers are not tactically effective by any means.
KJW Hicapa's: They come in a number of models (such as the popular KP-08), but they're all pretty much identical on the inside. Very durable, great performance, large magazine and gas capacity, and very durable. A small amount of 100% silicone lube will keep them functioning for a very long time without issues.
KJW M9's: Not quite as good as the Hicapa's, but still very solid for many of the same reasons.
WE Glocks: Another good option, but replacement parts are a bit hard to get since most of the parts are not quite TM-spec. Expect parts (like the outer barrel) to break over time, but don't expect any complicated fixes or disasters, they're still pretty simple.
1911's: KIDDING, DON'T BUY A 1911 TO START WITH. Without technical know-how, cheap 1911's break fast, and have terrible gas efficiency. If you want a 1911 styled pistol, buy a HiCapa instead.
Snipers:
IF YOU READ ONE PARAGRAPH OF THIS POST, READ THIS ONE. DO NOT BUY A SPRING SNIPER RIFLE TO START YOUR AIRSOFT CAREER. Spring sniper rifles, can not compete in any way with AEG's without expensive and very technical upgrades. A properly built sniper can take $1000+ and dozens of hours, and will still require a very careful playstyle to be used effectively. A cheap budget sniper rifle will get you killed every time compared to any of these budget guns. Any one of the pistols on this list will shoot about 10 feet less than a spring sniper, but have a much larger magazine as well as semiautomatic capability, and AEG's are even better.
Battery mA / Charge rate (mAh) = Hours to charge.
3600mAh / 600mAh = 6 hours to charge

added to the OP
to answer zesty lemons question from last thread
vfc m4, mags hold about 100 bbs and feed about every single one except the very last one in my experience with them
I'm wondering but is there a nice looking and well functioning airsoft USP out there?
Every time I see those KWA ones with butt-ugly super white trades I have to wonder whether or not there's a super nice version out there
my mag midcaps hold about 150-170s bbs each after breaking them in.
has everyone forgot the megastickyguidethread that's soon to be posted
or
or
or not
Nop
I've been adding stuff
If anyone wants to list some of the good CYMA and DBOYS AK models, that would be handy since my knowledge on those was lacking.
still reaaaaaaaaaaaaally need somebody to do the battery section, we're pretty much good to go I'm just finishing the guide to optics then it's ready to be revealed in it's glory.
just don't be cry once it's posted that it's wrong or that it's incorrect because it's been up for a month for everyone to contribute to
like that's going to happen I just know it
So, a few of my local friends are finally starting to interest in airsoft, and one of them bought his first gun today.
He purchased an HK 416 AEG from Academy over my advice of a Combat Machine or something similar.
Anyways, what kind of performance is to be expected, and what informaytionaisse can you offer?
I have no idea what he paid for it, but it came with a battery and charger if that helps identify it.
its an lpeg so maybe like 50-75 feet of range and like 250 fps at most.
[editline]12th April 2013[/editline]

If I knew more about batteries and all I'd help but I've only rewired a battery and my AK to deans one time, and I don't know anything about mosfets soooo...
Oh yeah and the last part is definitely going to happen. Just ignore them, it's not a big deal and it can be edited later.
i just had like 10 people at the time be like
"wow dude you should totally put up a section about batteries, lipos, how to wire, how to solder, how to mosfet"
and then they were never seen again

I have to post deathmogs legit vietnam guide
i wish someone would own up to repeatedly putting "lel ded gook hat i men wot heeheu for like two weeks straight"
that was mildly annoying and caused us to lock it
The loadout page? I looked at the revision history and didn't see any of that, only the Russian loadout that was added under the Vietnam loadout, and then the German loadout that replaced it.
