Do you trust President Trump’s judgment on major decisions? “I’m not answering questions like that,” said Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) after hopping off an underground tram shuttling him from the Capitol to his Senate office building. “That’s ah . . . ” he trailed off as he walked toward an elevator. Four seconds later, the easygoing Arizonan picked back up: “The president is overseas. I don’t think we’re allowed to ask any questions while the president’s overseas.” Flake was one of a dozen Republicans from across the ideological spectrum asked this week to reflect on Trump’s judgment. Most of them weren’t eager to address the subject head-on. They diverted and demurred. They paused contemplatively before answering. Some grew visibly uncomfortable. Others declared their conviction in Trump — but then qualified their words or expressed confidence in the people around him. Only one of those interviewed — Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) — offered an unqualified yes regarding Trump himself. This wavering confidence, and perhaps loyalty, comes after a torrent of controversial decisions by the president and explosive revelations regarding the ongoing investigations into possible coordination between Trump associates and Russia. It also comes amid signs that members of Trump’s own administration don’t fully trust the president’s decisions.

“I thought the president gave a great speech in Saudi Arabia,” Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) said, deflecting a direct question about the president’s judgment. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman wasn’t willing to comment more broadly. “Those kind of questions are not . . . ” he said, going silent for five seconds before concluding that he was facing a “gotcha” question.

After chewing over the question of whether he trusted Trump’s judgment on big domestic and national security decisions as he descended an escalator, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) used this strategy. “He has the responsibility and so therefore, ah, I respect the result of the election. I respect the constitutional authority that he has.”

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.) took a similar approach in a conversation with reporters a few steps from the Senate chamber. “Do you trust the president’s judgment right now on big national security decisions, big domestic policy decisions, in light of all of these revelations?” one asked. “Well, he’s president of the United States,” the second-ranking Republican replied. “He won the election and he’s entitled to make those decisions. Ah, we need to try to work with him — and I am — to try to help him be successful.”

Does Sen. James Lankford (R-Okla.) trust Trump’s judgment? Not clear. But like Cornyn, he also confirmed that Trump is indeed the commander in chief. “He is the president,” Lankford said. “And so, he makes decisions and that’s the way the American people do it.”
I wouldn't trust Trump's judgment on what steak to order at the steakhouse, never mind the sort of decisions a President and Commander in Chief must make. A conman cannot be trusted in the position of President of America. And yet, these sad sacks can't even say it straight that they don't trust him because party over country, and because they're spineless.
Spineless fucking cowards.
When someone clearly wants to answer "yes" to that question but can't, you've got a pretty big fucking problem.
My favorite wuss out answer is "well, he's president and won the election soooo." Well yeah he won because you fucknuts voted him in. The majority of voting population sure as hell didn't want him. It's like if somehow an Emperor Nadsmasher the Cruel got voted in and they just throw their hands up saying "well, he pulverizes peoples' genitalia on a daily basis, but he was elected and we respect the process sooo."
Spineless fucking cowards.
Party over country, man. He's wearing their colors so they gotta support him, because he's their ticket to full control of the federal government. Fuck 'em. If they cared about the future of the country as a whole, and not just their own plush careers, they'd've dropped him by now.

Trump's judgement is clearly something they question. Sounds like individually they might even be swayed.
I wouldn't call this support. Trump's judgement is clearly something they question. Sounds like individually they might even be swayed.
I shouldn't say support, sorry, I meant "they won't say anything against him." Implicit support, by staying silent. They're too afraid of losing votes from Tea Partiers and Trump fans to do what's right for the country. Like how Sen. McCain keeps flipflopping:
After chewing over the question of whether he trusted Trump’s judgment on big domestic and national security decisions as he descended an escalator, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) used this strategy. “He has the responsibility and so therefore, ah, I respect the result of the election. I respect the constitutional authority that he has.”
Come on, what the fuck kind of answer is that, John?

Where have the FP Trump supporters been? They've been very quiet recently
Where have the FP Trump supporters been? They've been very quiet recently
The most prolific of them have almost certainly been seeking the comfort of alt-right echo chambers like /pol/ and The_Donald, and burying themselves in conspiracy theories about The Deep State to delude themselves into thinking that the shocking events surrounding Trump's presidency are all just Fake News to distract America from the real problems.
Where have the FP Trump supporters been? They've been very quiet recently
Concern trolling in SH.
He eats his steak well done.
with ketchup But yeah, BDA is pretty spot on. People either started realizing he's not what they though he was, or they hunkered down in their denial and retreated to their respective echo chambers.
don't forget he takes his steak with ketchup ketchup ketchup
The only time ketchup should be anywhere near beef is if it's on meatloaf. For burgers I'm leaning against but willing to tolerate others' opinions.
The only time ketchup should be anywhere near beef is if it's on meatloaf. For burgers I'm leaning against but willing to tolerate others' opinions.
What about beef hot dogs? Normally I would take a wurst or something of the like with mustard alone, mind you. Beef over beef aside, these non-answers Republicans manage to give are just astonishing. For the love of God, speak! Say your mind! Not that of some vague, ethereal morass of GOP thinking, not some collective consciousness of political doctrine, use some of your human convictions or just stay quiet!
don't forget he takes his steak with ketchup ketchup ketchup
I can tolerate it if it's used with minced beef since that usually is made with the sorry leftovers after the steaks have been cut out. But putting it on a good quality steak is blasphemous.
Where have the FP Trump supporters been? They've been very quiet recently
Give them a break, a human being can only endure so many contradicting thoughts at once.
Where have the FP Trump supporters been? They've been very quiet recently
According to what I've read from two of them recently they feel the need to stay out of threads where they would be criticizing Trump since those threads will be filled with people criticizing Trump anyways. Which as I pointed out to them really doesn't help their credibility since the picture other users get of them is that they just blindly jump to Trump's defense and blind themselves to his mistakes.
The only people who support trump are those who watch fox news and only fox news. Any one else did it so they can watch this man become a dumpster fire. A lot of folks on both sides want to wreck the place. It seems the general mood is of dark nihilism and disillusionment. Trump their way of getting that done.
don't forget he takes his steak with ketchup ketchup ketchup
Read this as if it were a line being read by Josh Peck, trust me.
It's gotten to the point where the only people who still 100% support Trump are legitimately delusional, like "need mental help" delusional. And it's absolutely impossible to talk to these people because they exist in a totally different reality from the rest of the world. That's where we're at right now, a chunk of the country has actually lost their minds. What do you even do about that?
