At least 140 people have been arrested in Slovakia’s capital, where thousands gathered for an anti-immigration and anti-Islamization rally, according to local media reports. The march turned violent as protesters scuffled with police. The march was organized by the Alternativna cesta group via Facebook. It was called to protest against Brussels’ proposal to tackle the influx of migrants to the EU by imposing compulsory national quotas that require EU countries to accept a specific number of new migrants, most of whom arrived in Italy or Greece. Slovak media say the march drew thousands of protesters, while the Facebook page for the event claims that about 14,000 people took part in the rally. The activists, who said they are against the ‘Islamization of Europe’ and migrants from the Middle East and Africa, were chanting slogans like “Slovakia to Slovaks,” “Stop Islamization in Europe; Together Against dictate of Brussels; Europe for Europeans!” Some of the banners read “Slovakia is not Africa.”
http://rt.com/news/268615-slovakia-islamization-protest-arrested/
There's a disturbing trend towards immigration opposition and nativism lately, most of which just seems to be used as rallying points for the far-right groups.
"America is for Americans only!" = omg you fucking racist "Slovakia is for Slovakians only!" = what brave, patriotic souls we should award them [editline]21st June 2015[/editline] Also fucking ell-oh-ell at "Islamisation of Europe", what, did Abd el-Rahman muster up another army and disguise themselves as refugees? What the fuck is up with Europeans lately, do they think whenever a Muslim person fucking sneezes that it's the Battle of Tours again?
There's a disturbing trend towards immigration opposition and nativism lately, most of which just seems to be used as rallying points for the far-right groups.
Disturbing? They don't want thousands of immigrants washing up on their shores and being parceled out to them courtesy of the EU, why is that a bad thing?
Disturbing? They don't want thousands of immigrants washing up on their shores and being parceled out to them courtesy of the EU, why is that a bad thing?
Yeah they're totally in the right for treating human beings as pests. Hatred based on religion is always in the right and never leads to anything bad because those filthy Muslims just ruin everything right?
Disturbing?
Disturbing? The number of immigrants to the EU, and when they're divvied up and spread around is fucking miniscule. If people are sad that their precious little ~historically white and proud~ nation isn't homogenous anymore, then they should just keep fucking crying about it because that's how the world works.
Disturbing? They don't want thousands of immigrants washing up on their shores and being parceled out to them courtesy of the EU, why is that a bad thing?
they should protest against illegal immigration itself then? they're making a huge song and dance about 'Slovakia for Slovakians' and 'Muslims get out' as though the muslims were responsible for all the ills faced by their country. It doesn't work that way, religious hatred only starts going down the route of ethnic cleansing and hate crimes.

Especially in the countries most heavily hit by the immigration wave.
Like it or not, but it seems right-leaning parties keep gaining more and more popularity in Europe.
If they were against immigration, then they should protest against that instead of protesting against people of other races/religions inhabiting their country.
Did you miss the part where the protest was both anti-immigration and anti-islam? So basically everyone here selectively read the article or does one cancel out the other?
Oh boy howdy it's great to have far-right parties in power when there's a "minority problem", especially in Europe. that went swimmingly the last time, mhm
Yeah the 90s were a good time for everyone.
The skinheads and neo-nazis here are a pretty huge problem, if you are of a different race, have long hair , you're gay or pretty much any different to them, you're gonna get fucked up. They want an immigration free country while even I am afraid to walk the streets at night not because of the "immigrants" but because of these skinheads and neo-nazis. While there's a lot of people against them, it's pretty hard to fight back against stupid and aggressive people that want nothing else but to bash your face in because you disagree with their opinions.
they should just keep fucking crying about it because that's how the world works.
Ikr, they should just passively accept the way things are and never try to change anything ever.
Ikr, they should just passively accept the way things are and never try to change anything ever.
There's a difference between saying "We should look at our immigration policies" and saying "Muslims and darkies get out, this is our country, whites only"
Disturbing? Skyrim belongs to the Nords.

Here, coming from another state is enough to get you targeted by some individuals, for instance god help you if you happen to come from the northeastern states, some assholes openly tell these people 'get out of here and go back to China, traitor' with how jingoistic and insular things are becoming these days. The hindu nationalist revival isn't helping matters, either, by subtly encouraging such things.
As an ignorant American, I have to wonder how many of these middle eastern immigrants are actually part of some grand conspiracy to "islamify" Europe, as many right-wingers would have me believe, or if they are simply moderate Muslims seeking refuge from the increasingly extremist and war-torn countries of the middle east. Like, keep in mind, we are in a point in history where ISIS is rampaging across the middle east, razing and raping entire communities that don't subscribe to their fucked up version of Shariah Law. People from the middle east should be allowed the freedom to get as far away from that as they can.

My beautiful and historically white christian country can't be tainted by those mongrels
"that is how the world works" is not a good answer and it makes you look like moron.
Of course, this only applies if the other party are willing to understand that their viewpoints are wrong in the first place, instead of being accusatory when we point out that some things are fundamentally wrong and a bad thing to be doing.
Jordan currently houses over 2 million refugees. Jordan.
The country neighbouring Syria. That's exactly how it's supposed to work, refugees are supposed to go to the nearest safe country
The country neighbouring Syria. That's exactly how it's supposed to work, refugees are supposed to go to the nearest safe country
Why? We live in a globalized world. Refugees should go to a country that can afford to house them and actually is at fault for many of their problems. Guess who made shitloads of dosh exporting weapons and the ingredients and tech for Sarin gas to Syria? Guess who still didn't intervene when Assad armed IS with these very same weapons to fight against the Syrian rebels? Meanwhile the EU is letting Italy down, uses the refugees as political leverage against Greece and Italy and worries about the increasing oil price news it sees on it's brandnew smartphone.
God dammit Al-Asad looks like a middle eastern Mr. Bean. But he's not funny, just sad.

None are diverse in terms of ethnicity or religion. The west is the only ones who are "progressive" and diversity is being forced upon everyone for corporate benefit.
