is that what he calls vacations nowadays
Before the Notch bodyguard squad comes in, stuff like this is why quite a good bunch of people dislike him as a developer, and why the vacation jokes will never stop coming.
maybe he was making a joke get it creative block blocks... guys?
is that what he calls vacations nowadays
nowadays? i thought it was pretty well known that he never finished any major project

Did he not plan the game out correctly like you're supposed to when you make a game? If you're producing the game with the intention to sell it and you've already established yourself it's going to completely fuck your reputation and support over by going "got a creative block, can't work".

For those that disagree, take up programming and stick to a project until the end with no breaks

Wouldn't the issue of what's fun or not have come up in something like planning? I get that concepts on paper don't always translate flawlessly into a game environment, but for christ's sake, if it's a big enough issue to halt development then that's something that should have been tackled before the game was started, I would think.
There is a difference between a break and an indefinite suspension of development.
Not necessarily. My point still stands regardless, though.
For those that disagree, take up programming and stick to a project until the end with no breaks
I am making a game actually, and I just got done with a good amount of the art in a day, and technical stuff along with level 1 in another. It doesn't look as good as 0x10c, it's a bit below Minecraft.
Star citizen. All that needs to be said.
Notch barely had any role in developing Minecraft past the alpha, and as much as I love that game, it's very poorly coded and unoptimized. Frankly, he just won the lottery and got a bunch of money dumped in his lap. Then he pulled a ridiculous idea out of his ass, the fans lapped it up, and he figured out he didn't know what the fuck he was doing. Just go retire and spend your hundred million dollars, dude.
Hmm I liked the theatrics of mine craft on ice so maybe this will turn out okay

Not saying that makes it okay mind you, just saying where it may come from.

Anyone with even a vague interest in game design usually learns straight away that you need to plan as much as possible. Granted Ludum Dare does evoke a certain mindset but no one should keep that mindset when they're at this point in their career. This is obviously a game that needs to be refined and carefully worked on so he should have planned. I can understand him being a bad coder but saying he's hit a creative block is rather silly. He ought to admit he's not properly capable of handling it all and bring more team members in if that's what it'll take.

Plus Notch didn't exactly expect to get fame with minecraft during the building of the enigne
