Graph showing weird bandwidth usage in a 3 hour period of doing nothing

I downloaded a free bandwidth monitor to check and see if anything weird is going on, and after that, I let my computer sit for 3 hours with only my Antivirus running (Kaspersky).

I do not know if this is common, but looks funky to me. I also have limited bandwidth, that's why i'm concerned

Many programs these days have "E.T. Phone Home(TM)" features where they automatically connect to a remote server to check for updates or other things. The most common one is probably Windows Update, but many other programs do the same thing. But if you think 3.6 kb/s is bad:
