People are still modding Quake and Doom 3, I think this is more of a service for the hardcore fans and modders.

I know, but that doesn't mean that Rage doesn't have any followers. I think there are people that are much more interested in the tech behind it than the game, or improving the game.

True, that's fine. I am mildly interested if something interesting will come out of this.
I kind of lost interest in Rage the moment I saw the regenerating health.

Well, that and the mixed reviews, plus the reaction over its ending and people being generally lukewarm towards it. The regenerating health was more of an indicator that it wouldn't be a Doom/Quake style shooter for me.

It's their internal tools, not something made specifically for the modding community.
That's actually pretty cool of them to give us everything, rather than a barebones editor.

To be honest I expected heavier specs, I followed all things id Software very deeply in the last 5 years and I was surprised it's faster and not that bad. It'll be great on my machine can't wait.
I'd like to see some footage of the editor in action first, but I'm sure that'll take a few weeks to come out at this rate.

RAGE has a following indeed. Small, but there, but more importantly, ID tech 5 is a great engine which with a "budgetless" modding team could make something really interesting.

this is still cool tho, it'll be neat to see what kinda stuff people come up with (if anyone comes up with anything). it sounds like its basically total control over idTech 5 as long as you own RAGE so even tho RAGE doesn't have a huge following i think modders will take advantage of this kit to make some neat stuff executed on the idTech 5 engine
Hopefully the modders can do some great justice
