But part-time workers, including those who work at the 30-hour cutoff set by the health law, receive more limited benefits. Instead of rolling back these workers’ hours to avoid expanding their health coverage, Disney is choosing to promote them to full-time status.
That's very nice of them.
oh no, the republicans are right look at the affordable care act failing so hard...What will we ever do. Edit: my auto merge
I think that it's far from ideal that there is a plateau below which costs the employer 0$ and above which costs the employer $$$$$. We've seen that companies do their best to weasel their way out of it. There must be a better way.
Sssssso... did they get more hours, or are they part time but "full time" in the database so they can give em healthcare anyway? Its cool either way, but giving every part timer a massive jump in hours could have serious negative side effects later on down the road.
i think disney moved them to legal full time status like 35-40 hours a week to qualify for obamacare
But you can't just give EVERYONE more hours...
But you can't just give EVERYONE more hours...
Extra Magic Hours are now just "Magic Hours".
For those who don't work in environments where their are set full time positions. A-lot of job places have only a few full time positions and a bunch of part-timers fighting when that position opens. Basically Disney just said everyone can become full time now, I'm 100% sure if the person didn't want that then they could stay full time. For all the part-timers in line for full time though, This is a dream come true.
Umm yea, Disney can afford fireworks every day, they can afford this too.
http://boingboing.net/2013/10/03/disney-world-extends-hours-for.html
...the company I work for is the opposite, it's restricting us to no more than 30 hours. And we're only seasonal.
I'm glad some companies are taking the high road. My company is not only not cutting hours, from what we understand, but now also covering not just employees that meet the 30 hour requirement but part-time employees that regularly wouldn't qualify that have worked for x amount of months. It's shitty insurance, but it's insurance nonetheless. I hate that everyone is blaming the ACA over employees cutting their hours, when you should be blaming your asshole dickhead company for choosing to fuck over your economic health rather than give you even shitty health insurance.
Must be nice. My company is cutting hours big time. Literally anyone that worked over 30 hours now works 24 or less, no matter how much seniority they have.

I heard that WalMart was doing similar.
