Hello, I've been trying to get my Bluetooth headphones to work with my Dell XPS 1640, but Bluetooth doesn't seem to be on. It doesn't show up on the system tray, but it's lit up on the side as well as next to the volume controls. When I start up my computer it'll work for maybe a minute, but then just turn off. I've been trying to run the application BTTray.exe, but nothing happens when I try to open it. I've already downloaded the correct drivers from Dell's website, so that's not the problem. It used to work in the past, but not anymore. Does anyone how to fix this? Thank you.
What operating system are you running? Have you added the device using the devices and printers option in the start menu in windows 7?
It's Windows 7 Home Premium and yes I've tried that. It just doesn't detect it :/.

On the device itself there is usually a small button that you need to press while its trying to detect new devices. If that still doesn't fix it your blue tooth USB adapter may be bad or vice versa.
I forgot to have mentioned this, but it's not usb. It was built in when I got the laptop. Also I have been putting the headphones into pairing mode.
search for a bluetooth button on your laptop? It may be an actual button on the side of the laptop or may be a fn + "f1-12" key.
I always keep it on. I would have noticed if that was it because it's the same button for my wifi. So that's not the problem.
Go to the start menu and run "services.msc" without the quotation marks, and make sure the bluetooth service is running and set to run on startup
Also check in the BIOS, I accidently managed to disable WIFI+bluetooth on my dell with a key combination, and even though pressing the key combination again seemed to turn it on, neither worked, and I had to turn them on again in the BIOS
