Some insightful rhetoric:
In a new post on his Real Time blog, Bill Maher takes on Hillary Clinton’s “hawk problem.” While Clinton does admit that her vote for Iraq War was a “mistake” in her new book Hard Choices, in Maher’s estimation her “hawkish instincts” are alive and well.
Maher cites a months-old New York Times article that characterizes Clinton’s positions as secretary of state as consistently more hawkish than the rest of the Obama administration. When you add her recent comparison of Vladimir Putin to Adolf Hitler, Maher concludes, “She’s almost John McCain in drag.”
“Let’s face it — no Democrat can beat her. She could grow a Hitler mustache and still win the Democratic nomination,” Maher writes, before giving some unsolicited advice to the GOP. “But what if Republicans got smart and nominated an unapologetic dove? That person could splinter Democrats. If only Rand Paul weren’t half-crazy…”
Back in May, Maher sat down for an interview with Larry King in which he said he would love to see someone like Elizabeth Warren run with Clinton and help push her policies to the left. He even gave the pair a nickname: “the granny ticket.”
She's just a future war criminal, like the present and past ones, and would-be war criminals like McCain and Mitt Romney.

What is it with you and war criminals?
What is it with you and war criminals?
It's my way of pretending like I care, like people on tumblr who reblog stories about trans kids.
Seriously though interventionism is pretty bad.
Did he get on her for comparing Putin to Hitler then himself unironically compare her to Hitler?
Let’s face it — no Democrat can beat her. She could grow a Hitler mustache and still win the Democratic nomination.
You have to admit that it is true. I honestly have no clue why most Democrats have such a thing for Hillary. She's a very untrustworthy candidate.
she is basically a hardlined conservative on everything other than her feminist and equality measures. I hope to god she doesn't go for 2016

She's going to get nominated because she's the most well known and therefore will get all of the media attention, she'll go up against Chris Christie (who will look like a good candidate in comparison to virtually every other conservative due to not quite being a complete insane, partisan slimeball) and Chris Christie will win, and America will enter another 8 years of darkness because even though Chris Christie isn't a complete asshole, he's still a conservative, and will put other people in power who ARE completely horrible.
Mark my words, this will happen.

as a jersey boy chris christie is an asshole who has only come to the pedestal as semi "bipartisan" ever since sandy hit us hard as that was his chance to look good for 2016.
save us bernie sanders, youre our only hope

Because the prospect of the GOP having the White House, House of Reps, and the Senate at the same time is fucking terrifying and she's our best chance at avoiding that.

As much as I'd love to see Sanders in the White House, I'm too worried about party factionalism fucking the Democrats like it has the GOP. I feel like with the current state of Washington, the best we can hope for is status quo.
I kind of agree with Maher. Hillary is the Democratic equivalent of a RINO. I think the threat of "She's a weak-willed woman who doesn't have the spine to lead" criticism drives her to overcompensate by becoming more of a pro-war, anti-poor-people hawk than any Democrat has any business being. Hillary is NOT a liberal, she's what Republicans used to be.
If you want a real Democratic woman, nominate Elizabeth Warren. But, that won't happen, because Clinton is the Democratic version of Mitt Romney, and has the financial capabilities to steamroll any challengers.
Honestly, I'm pretty sick and tired of the Democratic party keeping the progressives locked in the basement since Carter. We get trotted out to vote every election cycle, then locked up again while they push center-right policies. IMO, that's what keeps America perpetually behind Europe when it comes to real quality-of-life policies.
There is no doubt Hillary is a hawk. Her New Silk Road fetish is going to give the US a stake in any gas conflict in Central Asia and put us at odds with Russia on yet another front. It's also arguably an alignment with China's interest there, which has been trying to marginalize Russia's influence over gas flow in the various 'stans.
While Obama already has done so, I think Hillary Clinton would also do more to end the pseudo-detente we've had with Russia and push more to do things like create a Membership Action Plan for Georgia, do more military bullshit in Poland and the Baltics, etc.
It's really a shame this passes for left wing in our country.

Any more to the left and you'll end up being a communist.
Or worse, a foreigner.
Hillary is the Dem version of Mitt Romney, please for the love of god do not let her become a president. I honestly would prefer having Mr. McCain as president with an independent or Libertarian vice-president.

Seriously hoping she doesn't get elected, she really does not seem like a good person. Related:

How delusional do you have to be to believe any leftist who doesn't do a good job is a crypto-fascist right winger? No, honestly. Wars are the exclusive domain of the right? Extra-judicial assassinations, the war of [drugs, terror, civil liberties in general], the persecution of whistleblowers, fusion centers, all exclusively a vast right wing conspiracy?
People are not gonna want to vote for Hillary, she's only significant because of her husband and her blatant Republican appeasing views don't help either. The common person won't feel very compelled to vote for her like they did Obama, and Chris Christie is sane enough to appeal to normal people (unlike Romney who appeals only to certain species of fern at best.

literally the majority of us just want slightly better than whats in play now, asking for a reversal of all the horrible shit that most of the public has no idea is not going to happen anytime soon but if we get little by little increases by getting slightly more liberal candidates then our great great grand kids can be proud to have an actual liberal in power.
Voting for hillary is a step in the wrong direction for this future.

By that view, she'd be a DINOsaur...

After the whole bridge shit, Christie is not the most likely Republican candidate. Jeb Bush will likely get the nomination.

I hope that Jeb Bush gets the nomination because the republican party is fucked if that happens

With the success that Hillary Clinton is seeing in the polls, the Republicans could resurrect Ronald Reagan for a candidate and still lose.

Gotta keep the empire going. It's the pickle the US is sort of stuck in as long as they are determined to remain a world super power.
[editline]25th June 2014[/editline]
Also who really cares, the politics in the US is fucking depressing.
It's a 2 party system where they just toss the ball back and forth and as soon as they get into office they abide by what the establishment wants, not whatever BS they promised on their campaign trail. It's just a big pathetic sideshow and people still follow this shit and pick red team or blue team as if any of it really matters.
Let's have the 2 megalithic parties run the political debates and squash any form of competition whatsoever, that sounds like democracy to me!
The system as it is right now is basically built to be corrupt. As time goes on it just becomes more and more transparent along with being insulting.
The only Democrat I can honestly say that I really would vote for in a heartbeat is Heidi Heitkamp. She is a pretty decent moderate, and one statement she made a while back made me pretty happy about my vote for her back in the day.
, "I’m going to represent my state. ... in the end it’s not what any other senator believes. It’s about what the people of North Dakota believe."
That's a person I would vote for. Not because she supports my beliefs, but because she actually stands by her statesmen and stateswomen.
What is it with you and war criminals?
deep down inside, we're all war criminals at heart.

It doesn't matter who wins, really. American presidential races give you a choice between a shithead dickwad and a fart-mouthed asshole.

This attitude is how people like Bush got elected, and that sure as fuck mattered.
Did he get on her for comparing Putin to Hitler then himself unironically compare her to Hitler?
I think he meant "Even if she looked like hitler she would still be supported"
This attitude is how people like Bush got elected, and that sure as fuck mattered.
Some candidates are certainly better then others, but they're all devils, some just happen to have silver tongues.
Basically, there's no such thing as a 100% honest politician in any country. We had the exact same fucking problems in Scotland.

Chris Christie can barely keep control of his own state, you think people are going to trust him with the county? We'll see Bloomberg in office sooner than that, God forbid.
