It's good. The mid-game time is pretty dull, though. When your population is high enough to be easily sustainable through agriculture and such, but not high enough to cause any real chance of disease or fires so there's nothing to manage except occasionally building new houses.
Once I got the formula down pat, the game pretty much took care of itself. Either two things would happen, nothing or mass starvation because people didn't know how to eat apparently.
Yeah, it's incredible barebones. Once you have the essentials to live, well, there's nothing else left to make. However, the developer should be adding modding support soon, so that ought to breathe some replayability into this game. And you will learn to hate the AI. A family of 6 starved to death because their next door neighbour with 1 person lving in it had hoarded over 1000 units of food to himself.
