[URL]http://typeranter.com/[/URL] This is a little project that my housemate and I worked on. It's a 1980's typewriter. We reverse-engineered it and hooked it up to Twitter. Anything you Tweet at @typeranter will be typed out. Did you use some kind of microprocessor to link the typewriter to the Internet? Kinda awesome

And yes, we used an AVR microcontroller to drive the typewriter itself, then a Raspberry Pi to gather up the tweets. The Pi sends the tweets to the AVR via serial link and the AVR makes the typewriter type out the individual letters.
