A petition has been made to remove Tom Wheeler from his position at the FCC

A follower of Tek Syndicate has taken things in his own hands by creating a petition on the We the People petitions page on the White House website. The petition is aimed at Tom Wheeler and his direct removal of his position over at the FCC who has failed numeral times in regards of Net Neutrality.
If you want a free and open internet then it's recommended to sign this petition for the greater good!
Before he became Chairman of the FCC, Tom Wheeler was a lobbyist for the cable and wireless industry, which the FCC is supposed to regulate. Not only is this a conflict of interest, Wheeler has repeatedly demonstrated that he is not working for the good of the American people.
Twice the FCC has sued internet providers over Net Neutrality issues and lost because the companies they sued were classified under Title I of the Telecommunications Act (as of 2002), and therefore cannot be regulated with regards to Net Neutrality.
Reclassifying ISPs under Title II would allow the FCC to enforce Net Neutrality rules, and in both court cases, judges recommended this course of action. The paperwork is simple, but Tom Wheeler bloviates around the issue. He is clearly corrupt, and must be eliminated.
Edit: I'm surprised no one had the balls to do this even after knowing what is happening.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who read this in Arnold Schwarzenegger's voice.

So by that logic any petition ever is not news?
Not news, 71 signatures.
The petition was just posted today

Not for long, man. Clocking 103.
Time to spread this around. These things have to start somewhere.
forgot my whitehouse.gov password, will sign as soon as I recover it.
edit:
up to 127 now.
I'm signing as well, although it will probably do nothing.
He doesn't deserve such an important post if he cannot do his job properly. Signed.
But I sign with high hopes.
Getting Tom Wheeler the fuck out of important positions will help, but it'll probably be all for naught if the current Russian crisis escalates to wartime levels and government cronies try to isolate the net in order to "keep the Reds from peeking at American emails".
Still, removing Wheeler will be a positive regardless of the Bear.
It's not like they actually listen to anything on We the People. The whole thing is just one giant PR stunt by the administration to make it look like they care.
This is the guy that used to work for an ISP isn't he? We need reform, the regulated should not be granted the power to regulate.

But if we can rake up enough shit, it'll be all over the web and television just like CISPA was the first time

Well they do listen, they're forced to reply after a certain amount of signatures.
And that by itself may generate enough fuss to get on bigger news programs, and then perhaps something will be done.
Nothing gets done in a single step. Looking for an instant fix and only an instant fix will leave you with nothing.

Pretty much. So far any petition I've seen that's reached the required signatures has been answered with "Oh gee, gosh, you guys, you all think this is pretty important, huh? Well unfortunately we can't/won't do anything about it at this time, but thanks for voicing your opinion!"

I have a hard time picturing Arnold saying words like "bloviate".

Which makes it funnier.
They only respond to softball petitions, like Justin Beiber getting deported or Mars missions.
He shouldn't have been appointed in the first place, do they even know what a 'conflict of interest' is? This is basic stuff, you DO NOT put someone in charge of a regulatory body when they used to work in the industry they are supposed to be regulating.
He should be removed immediately and the people who put him there fired as well.
Get Mignon Clyburn back in there, she was the interim chairwoman and was great for her brief time.
Would love to sign, especially seeing as this is about the internet, a global ressource, but I have a feeling that I have nothing to say on the matter what with me being NOT american.

Yeah, my biggest concern is that the EU won't be able to keep net-neutrality a thing if the us keeps on doing what they are doing... That would suck big time.
