In an interview with Vanity Fair this week, the creator of the galaxy far far away was asked who he would be if he had to be a Star Wars character. He paused for a moment, equivocating, before offering an absolute truly worthy of a Sith. "Jar Jar Binks," he said, the corners of his mouth curling into a wry smirk.
THIS EXPLAINS SO MUCH.
Senile.
a crazy man with a crazy plan
Thank god he has no more control over anything.
Someone stop him
This just confirms the Jar Jar Binks theory even more...

That would have been a far better direction for him to go in the prequels though no doubt, but then again what wouldn't. :v:

star wars and its worshippers are so fucking dumb
There's a part of me that thinks he's just being cheeky but still, I wouldn't be so sure :v:
I read that George Lucas has nothing to do with the new film and he's happy because he's never been able to go to the theater and see a star wars movie without knowing anything beforehand
Im pretty sure at this point lucas just stole the scripts for the original trilogy from some homeless dude then ran out of scripts and had to try on his own
star wars and its worshippers are so fucking dumb
why not just you know, declare any and all fandoms are dumb and everyone who likes anything enough to make up a theory about something they like is a loser
cause that's what you're saying essentially
and it's ridiculous and wrong
If you actually follow Verge's link to the interview in question, this really sounds more like George was joking more than anything else. So getting riled up over this seems overexaggerated more than anything.
In any case, he's said previously that he'd like to be R2-D2, which is more amusing and nice, though you could make an argument that it also ties into his disagreeable quirks, considering R2 is in all the movies regardless of relevance (at the very least, I've read one argument that the droid with a bad motivator from Episode IV should've been in R2's role in the prequels) and he's also said he imagines R2 recapping the whole saga to the Journal of the Whillies whatitz he talked about back in the day.
if you don't think he said this on purpose to piss people off you are mad
star wars and its worshippers are so fucking dumb
why do you do this in a star wars thread
He just want to be made into an official action figure.
Jar Jar is a official action figure, I've got it on my shelf.
star wars and its worshippers are so fucking dumb
while that reddit post was hilariously over worded and super stretchy, there's some things in the movies that stand out rather oddly, like his penchant to speak lines at the same time as other characters

annnnnd the fact that he's the one who stood up and told the senate to build the empire as we knew it in the original trilogy. He may as well have had a direct influence in twisting anakin into darth vader
I for one love the weird possibility of darth darth binks, the drunken monkey approach to keeping your foes off guard is impressive if it was (at ANY level of his planning) part of his intent. One could think people working on the film were just as out of the loop as the rest of the audience, so he was portrayed a little harder than intended as a pure bumbling idiot, with only some key moments and his general design being too goofy to pay attention to the design cue of his eyes or whether his motions had some intention underneath the folly.
In a universe where binks is a powerful mind manipulator that everyone would dismiss as feverish rumor, with power in the galactic senate and resulting actions that ring throughout the entire history of the franchise? Hell yeah George would want to be him.
star wars and its worshippers are so fucking dumb
Satire just flies over your head doesn't it buddy? I know in /tv/ fun isn't allowed but god damn
i think he's just fuckin with people.
Prettt sure he just said this to rile up the speds who constantly whine about the prequels.

all the googas or goongas or whatever the fuck have yellow eyes
Hope Jar Jar returns in the next movie.
As far as I know, current canon is that Jar Jar was on Alderaan when the Death Star exploded it.

Gungans.
They're Gungans.

as do the darth maul race and presumably whatever grievous was, but as far as movie thematics go, background lore be damned if it can be used to enforce themes in primary content. Like, in disney stuff wearing gloves is thematically used to show a character has hidden motives. I'm sure a lot of characters technically own gloves, but the presentation of the fact in the media is what sets the concept apart.

his bio on wookiepedia says this at the end:
After the formation of the New Order, Binks was considered an ally of the new Emperor, and an Imperial HoloVision report shortly after the end of the Clone Wars mentioned that he had personally sent Senator Binks to an undisclosed location.
(wow he was working directly for the emperor)
The end of the Civil War
Binks was alive and well in 6.5 ABY, and was present on Coruscant during its liberation from the Galactic Empire by troops of the New Republic. While he was never involved in this liberation, he was situated relatively close to some of the action.
The liberation of Coruscant happened after the death of Palpatine (news of the death was what sparked an uprising), so if he was present there he couldn't have been killed on Alderaan. For all we know he's still out there, "relatively close" to more important events, hiding in the shadows with his increasingly tired, wrinkle-framed yellow eyes
all the googas or goongas or whatever the fuck have yellow eyes
Some people say they're all evil - as the cannon is that they hate the surface dwellers on Alderran prior to the Trade Federation invasion and war. Potentially, the only reason they even helped was because Binks had enthralled Boss Nass and they were forced to by him. The yellow in the eyes of various characters could potentially represent unchecked evil or hatred throughout the series: just look at Jabba the Hutt, his eyes are yellow/orange as well.
Either that, or it is just convenient that his race has yellow eyes. We can also note that Binks' eyes are far more wrinkled than those of his countrymen, which can come from excessive force use (look at what happened to Palpatine when he used a lot of juice).
There's a part of me that thinks he's just being cheeky but still, I wouldn't be so sure :v:
He is. There's a wired interview about 7 years ago, that actually covers this in detail. Binks was literally made for young kids, and has no intrinsic value except monetary.
